NO THEY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME QUALITY AND COST APPROPRIATELY. SOME OF THEM ARE NOT WORTH THE EFFORT FOR A HIGH PERFORMANCE APPLICATION. GET THE GM 4L65 ONE AND STAY AWAY FROM THE ORIENTAL MADE ONES

Ditto... If someone is selling a 5 gear planet for 80 bucks then you can bet there is a reason for it (cause its only worth 20 bucks).

Pay the money for the GM stuff. Cheapest place that Ive found to get em is GMpartsdirect.com.

if your looking at both of them the front is much smaller than the rear.

The problem with the foreign made units was the torringtons. Japanese manufactured units were eating up torringtons and causing tons of failures. Another problem with the Japanese units was the batwing washers were being installed incorrectly.
The ones made in India supposedly don't have this problem. Transtar sells ones made by GM and Japan(if you specify rebuild). Dacco sells the ones made in India.
I use GM because I get an outstanding deal at my local dealership.
Don't pay attention to the powdered metal crap. GM makes ALL of their planetary housings from powdered metal so molding consistency could be maintained. All of the Cadillac Escalades, GMC Denalies and Hummers and 4L60HDs and 4L65s have the 5 pinion planets in them. That was good enough for me.

$30? Garbage. He's trying to unload it. Don't risk it.

30 bucks is a good tip in a restaurant, not a good planatary in a 700. add another zero to 30. also, didn't I read that it was used? do you really want to put used parts in your tranny? if it's 30 bucks new...wow...a governor costs more than that.
