Re: 4l80E install. Transfer case does not fit.
Those fit differently because there are different manufacturers of those seals that you guys put in there. Some are actual O rings. Some are square cut but very thick. Some are square cut but very thin. Basically a paper thin coating of permatex is all that is required. Gary, you were very patient. You picked THE hardest upgrade for someone to do. This is FAR beyond an intake manifold swap or a turbo bolt on. Once you do it though, you'll never forget. You'll see what I mean. If you ever see someone ask a question about the 4L80e in the future, you'll know first hand and it will always seem like you
just did it.
First thing you'll notice is that the big delay bang 1-2 shift will be gone because the ratio change won't be so dramatic. Resulting in a much smoother shift.
I got to watch Jeremy and Will race today at Hamilton and I love the 1-2 shift. You see just a little wiggle and that's it. Very smooth but quick. I recommend you give the "Performance kick" a try also. Don't go ANY higher than 25% though. You may feel like 25% is too much. Don't leave it there. When your done racing, flip it back down to normal.
Spare rubber glove with duct tape or a zip tie works really well
Would you have the part number handy for that 45? I may start including these in the kits for guys wanting to go to AN fittings with braided lines.
Frank, you did cut some length off the bolts and torqued them, like Gary did, right? 35 foot pounds is the normal torque. The pic you took with it on the floor looks OK but the pic you took with it up in the truck looks different. Is the case wobbling around or is that an illusion? If it's torqued and you trimmed the bolts like I told you to, don't worry about it. If you didn't trim the bolts then you'll have to take it back out.
