Hey guys,

I am in the market for a new muffler.

I need a 3" straight through design.

Would prefer a stainless muffler that is long, so it would not be too loud.

Any mufflers you guys like or recommend?

i use a 3" straight through magnapack, all rest straight pipe, sounds great and no drone on highway

3 inch, straight through and not loud? maybe if it put a 200 hp engine through it, but something with some power will be very loud. I am using a rpm muffler, 3 in/out and a drive through is a shut the engine off thing.

I have a 3" straight thru dynomax i just took off my truck in decent shape with turndown if you want to try it, pay shipping and its yours..

The single in, single out magnaflows are all straight through. You probably want something in the way of a 22" long case if you want it quiet, I have a 14" case and it's quiet too, just go to magnaflows website and look at their "universal" mufflers in 3", in oval or round case. You'll find what you want there.

The borla x mufflers are loud

Yes, quiet & straight through design, is possible, mine is actually pretty quiet, until I do the WOT mode:rotf:, then it's loud. I can see why the RPM would be loud, it's pretty short, correct?
Right now my muffler case is 22" long.

IIRC, louver type mufflesr kill flow over perforated cores, correct?

Can't remember the length of it, I guess I could crawl under it and measure, I would like the truck a little quieter than it is, as I have had the cops follow me for a few miles, one good thing is it almost idles at 45 mph, but leaving a light have to rev it up a bit to get the convertor to work.

Its not SS, but I have a Dynomax turbo muffler and its pretty quiet. I hear the turbo over it under boost.

I was told my muffler is like a Gibson design. Problem is the muffler rusted out ( very few miles on it, maybe 3000 ) on the bottom so I would like to get a stainless (probably 304) one this time around.

It is straight through type with louvers. You can actually slip a 3 inch pipe right through the muffler from one end & will pass through the whole muffler, so the tip of the louvers ID is just a bit bigger than a 3 inch OD of the pipe.

Wonder if it still has bad flow characteristics, meaning, wonder if it does actually flows worse than a 3 inch perforated muffler?
