Yes it is possible.

My question is what are your motives?

Being I have a buick 3.8 on the engine stand going back toghether this weeked for my daily driver buick, I am wondering why before knowing how to answer your question.

well, not to sure its a transfer case issue. I am certain a 3.8L should fit with ease. The transmissions if I remember correctly on the 60* V-6 motors have a different style bolt pattern than the 90* V6 and SBC stuff does.

So if you are intending to use the same transmission you may wanna check again on that. The overall length of the buick motor has got to be as short or shorter than the 4.3L. Would be an interesting swap, however, alot of people here will tell you, you are just making your truck a regular S-10 tho when you do that swap, because mainly it doesnt have a 4.3L in it. Trust me I speak from experience on this

He is building a clone, so he's looking for a cheap motor to put in, but still has some balls with it.

ive been really interested in this. theoretically with a smaller (lighter) motor that puts out plenty of power it would be a better choice then the 4.3 plus there are a lot more people out there that work on them. but i dont know about being physically able to do it. and its just a theory anyway

from my experience it's usually better (I.E. cheaper) to stick with what's known to work.

the amount of money spent in fabricating parts to make things fit and work properly when doing something like this is usually pretty high. you could spend the same money and get better results going an alternative route. My worst experience with this was mounting a transverse fwd engine in a rwd platform, having to change a ton of crap to make the engine work as a front to rear model rather than a side to side. I did learn a lot from it however, and it still stands on it's own as far as that.

i think it would work. all you would need is an adapter to mount the 700R4 to the buick 3.8, motor mounts, and wiring. plus think of how durable the 3.8/stage 2 buick motors are. Cal Harline is running 8s and their are numerous GNs running nines and tens with full weight cars. its not like someone is trying to swap a supra motor in a sy. a 3.8gn motor is basically the same size as a 4.3.

same size, but once you get into adapter plates to make things fit.......... I guess it all comes down to what it's worth to you. I just think there are easier ways to make good power.

As far as grand nationals running 8's and 9's, while they are out there, they are not the norm.

there are a lot of cars/engines that have that potential, but the vast majority are in the hands of owners who aren't going to push them that far.

any car that runs 10's or faster is going to have a good amount of time and money invested, so I guess if you are looking to take your vehicle to that point then go with whatever power plant floats your boat. at some point you're goig to have a lot of money invested in it anyway.

Actully its been running for awhile, aside from a vacuum leak I have to fix. Turned out all the wiring did plug right in all I had to modify was the digital cluster to fit the blazer dash. biggest problem is the steering which I have'nt finished yet, the steering shaft hits the header and I need a knuckle to move it. The mounts are the old regal frame mount modified to fit. Hopfully I'll have some time here soon to work on it, I've busy with another project.

Yes its a 2wd Blazer.

FWIW the buick 3.8 motor is 90* also.

Check out the "hybrids" section on www.turbobuicks.com (<diff forum than the next one) or do a search for "s10" on the www.turbobuick.com board cause I remember a guy who used to post from time to time that did the 3.8 into an s10. Dont remember the guys name though :-? .

I'm sure the adapter is out there.

When I did a longitudinally mounted V8 in one of my Fieros I used a TH325 and had to use a BOP adapter to mount my 350 to it.

Should work the other way around.

(forgive me if not........it's early and my brain isn't awake yet)
