Re: 20G Turbo

so a 12cm housing and a 2400-2800stall tc would work nice...
with a good code59 setup is than a 11 on the track possible?

Could be possible. It would be easier if the Ty lost some weight.
If you get 2800 stall out of a converter, you could run the standard 14 cm turbine housing.

Re: 20G Turbo

The 20G turbo would need a bigger compressor wheel than the stock wheel to run 11's easier.

I would install a 60 to 61 MM compressor wheel..:2cents:

You would need a larger compressor housing also for a larger 60MM+ wheel installed, anything larger than 57 MM.

Re: 20G Turbo

From personal experience running a TD06 20G with a 14cm exhaust on a standard stall is not a good idea.
You will no longer be able to launch the truck as I was unable to build more than 4-5psi off the line.

Once moving you may notice some small gains (which can be maximised once tuned to suit) but in my opinion nothing to get to excited about.

Same here. On stock convertor, I could build 2-3 psi on launch max. I felt it had a good amount of gain though, once you got the rpms up. It would spool slower, but when it hit 18psi, it would break the tires loose slightly. The stock turbo never did that, unless it was raining. I am running similar times with my 20G/ 9/11 convertor @14-15psi that I was with my stock setup at 18-19 psi. I am sure if I get to do a run with my 20G with 3-4lbs more boost, it will pick up pretty decent numbers..

Lost some weight isn´t so easy...don´t want to miss the AC...my ABS is damaged so it can be removed ;-) but how much would it be?

Re: 20G Turbo

I got my truck down to 3800lbs. No AC, a2a, coil overs/tube arms, ABS, countless bolts/brackets, fiberglass hood, etc.. I think stock weight is 4070. It will be hard to lose weight on a Ty. Personally, with out a superb tune from someone who knows exactly what they are doing, I don't think you will run 11's. The guys that have gone 11's on the 20g turbo worked their ass off for it and knew exactly what needed to be done. When people say, "I want to run 11's, what should I do"? The 20g doesn't usually come up. I'll put it to you like this, if you did get it to run 11's, I doubt you could re-produce it on demand and if you could, you would definitely be at the end of the line as far as your potential, i.e., you will be totally maxed out.

Oh, Thats a lot of work.
I know that i cant drive an 11 with this setzt easily.
I want a little bit more performance than Stock...

Re: 20G Turbo

It is supposed to stall between 2300-2500 RPM, and handle between 350-400 ft lbs. But I can not verify or guarantee either.

If it will only handle 350-400 that is no good. stock torque is in 420-440 range and they easily hit 500+ when modified.

Re: 20G Turbo

I will have to look into it then. What do the stocks one handle?

Cam

I have dynoed my stock longblock 20G turbo but w/a smaller 12 CM turbine housing & it peaked up to 560 ft lbs. 21 psi

On the other dyno runs it averaged 550 ft lbs, I am surprized my stock trans & converter still works.

I am suprised too...that seems like a ton for most any stock part that didn't make that amount of power to start with!!! What kind of times do you run with your setup?

$1,200 seems a bit high to me...since you can buy them new for around $800. Just my observation.

Re: 20G Turbo

So far,
I have run 12.0 spinning the tires w/a 1.68 60' ultra lean @ 13.6 A/F ratio, was running out of injector (stock injectors) & my Aquamist stopped working during the run. Not just making excuses, just stating facts.;)
