93 fat man seats rule the world! I wouldnt even look at a 92 when I was searching for my truck just for that reason
I, being a fat man, agree whole heartidly with this statement.

Wtf was the trans diff between the 92/93.. Im still kinda clueless.
Oh and the 93 ty stock intercooler doesnt look similar to the cooking surface on a george forman grill (with the grease runoff traps).

Jesus H Christ on a popcicle stick, every one knows (that will admit it anyway) that the 92's will be worth more than the 93's just because of the reasons posted above, "sport seats" no Caddy like "Mom's SUV" over head with a temp and compass that prolly don't work, the rare and sought after door handles and the cool and rare colors!

Sheesh guys, come on it's the same truck with slight trim changes. Can't we all just "Ty" together  ? As for working on them and maintenance, buy the best one you can afford, take care of it and it will be good to you in return unless you going to start beating the hell out of it. If you want a collectable realy quick daily driver that you can drive. Go for it! Sure it's 15 yrs. old and will need some TLC but unless you are going to do serious mods and or abuse the truck (you CAN braek anything if you try), you will have one quick daily driver that still to this day will rape 90% of all the other new cars from light to light, even the ones that go int the 45K range ;) . Just don't make the mistake of buying some old beater for $3,500 and expect to not spend some money on it.

Re: 1992 vs. 1993 Typhoons, which is the best?

Ive had my Ty for almost a year. Its a 93, and I didnt know anything about the year differences when I bought it. I definately like the 93's better, for the seats and door handles (those 92 handles look like S%$T!!)
In the last year I have driven it daily for a while, then occasionally. Ive logged about 7K, and that includes the maiden voyage home from Louisianna to Florida, which was kinda scary since I was about to cross some state lines in a truck I never saw in person before. The only things I have changed are the shocks, plugs, cap, rotor, fuel pump and alternator. The alternator is the only thing that "went bad", the other stuff was worn but drivable- just not in top condition.

No matter what year or mileage truck you buy plan on doing a full tuneup. Change all fluids. Do the brakes, and be prepared for some suspension work like bushings, shocks, idler arm and maybe a pitman arm. It seems these trucks (or their previous driver) were hard on the suspensions.

I love driving my TY. Granted I only live a mile from my shop so it doesnt get much abuse. But I would drive it anywhere. I have wanted this truck since it was first announced. I finally got the opportunity to find one with less than 100k on it and for a real steal of a price. I couldnt pass it up.

Over 20k miles on the tranny, been towing for 2 summers now. It has a big B&M cooler, and air bags in the rear.
Tranny temp stays pretty cool. You just have to be careful, you don't want to be holding 15 psi for any length of time.

oops!!! what does that mean:roll:

That means my 93 doesn't have temp guage and compass in it. I have no idea why. And I wasn't adding to the thread at all....just typing the first thought that came to mind.....sorry.

92's will never be worth anything because they have those dopey door handle protectors.

Look at Bob being active on the board again. Nice to see you posting Bob and nice new shop. I hope all is well with you, your wife and the "kids".

I have to agree with the 93 votes. The fat man seats, the upper console, no door handle thingys, newest available. I had a 92 before and it was nice I mean its still a ty. After selling that one when I was ready and I searched again for the one I now have a 93 was definately what I was looking to buy.

The snow is almost all gone finally. Just got 18" up here a week ago and some of the snow from feb 14 was still on the ground before that last storm hit. All in all not too bad though. Thanks for asking. I'll have to stop by some time to check out the shop. Are you up and running yet and if not when do you think you will be?
