1992 Aspen Blue / Grey Typhoon - Lost, but now found

Blue Typhoon

Typhoon # 610 Blue/Gray
First, my sincere appologies for letting this happen to my precious GMC Typhoon. Many years ago in 2007 I had a disruption in life from a few angles and decided to park my baby at a friends shop until things settled down. It had a fresh rebuilt engine and turbo, which led to me breaking something in the rear end shortly after the work was done ( I may have been a little excited to get back on the road).

After losing touch with with my buddy while he moved around the country and literally 16 years without seeing it I get a call from a random person saying he has my truck and needs to drop it off. I was traveling in Canada at the time and had no idea what was going on. At this point I had written it off as lost to time, but suddenly here we are. So I tell him to drop it off in my business parking lot, until I was able to get back to the states. The whole way home it was like I was about to see a lost family member for the first time.

When I got to work this morning I was astounded to see it was actually sitting here in person, but I was even more astounded at the condition. While I didnt know where it was, I had hoped it wasnt sitting in the elements, that unfortunately wasn't the case. But at the same time, there was relief that it had returned, since I had prepared for the worst over the years (stolen, parted put, who knows what else). I'll be spending the day going throught the interior and removing years of clutter, much of which was in it to begin with. So overall it is the way I had left it, with the exception of a missing front bumper and the front right wheel cladding. Some body damage on the tailgate and lots of paint damage overall. But the rust at first glance appears to not be too bad.

I'll keep updating this post with the progress but I really don't need another ptoject right now. I think I will clean it up and gather all the stuff I have for it stored in my attic and see what can be done with it. Everyone here has always been a huge help so here I am again, any advice would be appreciated.

Is this a parts truck now? Would anyone be interested in saving it? It is a real barn find and a great story to tell. I am second owner with title and all the documents that came with it. I'm really not sure where to start but I am ready to accept the lashing that comes with abusing such an iconic vehicle.

Hope you find it still salvageable. Great color.

FYI, someone saw the truck and posted pics of it on Facebook.

Saw that, I’m waiting to become an active member when they approve me. At least that way I can tell the story there.

They actually found it and took pictures of it before I even saw it. While waiting to be approved as a member on that Facebook page I stumbled across pictures of my own truck :)

It's definitely not a parts truck, it is one of 28 Aspen Blues ever made. As long as it's not crusty underneath I would imagine you wouldn't have any problem getting $12,000-$15000 for it as it sits.

The good condition truck is a 1991 prototype. 1 of 3. He saw the post and reached out to me. Hadn’t seen him in years. But while the truck was black, the blue was sprayed for the typhoon body and super rare

Edit: Good eye though. I’m looking back at the photos and am having trouble seeing how the hell you knew that.

Look under the hood at the fenders where the hood closes. And the firewall.

They didn't take the time to paint those places.
I knew what to look for I just couldn’t see enough to make that statement. And I would like to reiterate that that truck is more rare than the 92 Aspen next to it. It is an amazing truck.
