I’m at the street drags and I watching some of the competition in the pits. I see a red Chevy that says dura max pull up to the line. Holly crap was that thing fast. I also thought his launch was comparable to the syclone. I overheard talking in the pits about how that Chevy dura max ran 12's. It must have been one of his buddies.
I later walked back to my truck and who do you think was blocking me in? The red dura max turbo diesel. I asked him to move but he said he only would if I raced him. I said "sure." I was a little intimidated by his truck because I have never had mine to the track to even know what it runs. I think I gave him some cold feet as well. He wanted to know my mods. Of course I told him "Im stock." And of course he told me he only runs 13s. You know how that game goes.
I get up to the line and he starts pluming clouds of black smoke out if this exhaust and I can’t even hear myself think because his turbo was so loud. All I could think about was launching hard and watching for that green light. I pulled a quarter car on him off the line and then ended up pulling a full car on him as I crossed the finish line.
I could not believe it. I won by almost two car lengths. I really surprised myself. Little did I know that I was about to surprise myself even more that night.
I beat:
Pontiac with a 455
AWD eclipse with a front mount
Mustangs
multiple v8 trucks
and even a guy running the same exact drivetrain as a syclone (AWD, with 700R4) bolted on to at 327 small block in a 91 S10.
