10-11 sec Build Up Needed

I need a good reliable 10-11 sec build up. I am taking the motor apart replacing pistons, rings, heads, headers, turbo, radiator, intercooler...etc. what are the best I can use. I may have forgot some things so feel free to fill in the blanks.

Do a search there is a ton of info on builds.
After being close to done on my build i would recommend just telling John Waller, Mike Lee, etc etc that you want to run reliable 11's and then bend over and let them give you a high price right up your *&# bc looking back on it i wish i would have just said f*ck it here is a bunch of money bc it may be worth all of your headaches letting them take care of everything and You would have a good sense of mind knowing someone trustworthy did the motor. And i am joking about the price thing they are all pretty reasonable when you look at everything involved.

I collected parts from damn near everyone on the board, getting the most for my money and i am having a local machine shop doing the machine work like 4 bolt mains, balancing, etc etc.

umm.. 383 with twins???

If i could go back i would have just had Waller build me a motor, in the end i only saved a little bit and had to do a lot more running around. just like Ted said.

take out v6 put in large small block v8 very low compression 2 large turbos and big stuff efi, 700hp or so on 91 pump gas.

pretty easy huh

NO...NO...None of those. Thankx anyways.....Just need to know things like what pistons and rings, cam, rocker arms, heads, headers, TQ converter, Turbo, BOV, etc... You know everything thats in the motor. What is the best stuff to throw in the TYPHOON to make her go 10s or really low 11s. I'm going to make her meaner than a dog $#!+ing tacs with diareaha. :evil:

i think you have no f'ing clue what the hell you are talking about. if you were even somewhat serious you would read through old posts to find information on what build you will need. a 10 second truck doesnt come easily, be prepared to spend a good 15 grand aside from the cost of the vehicle. still sound like fun? is it just me or is anyone else sick of people with no clue at all asking for the secret 10 second recipe. im done.

Hey, 93typhoon502, I will sell you a complete engine top to bottom with turbo and down pipe that will put you dead in the tens bolt it in and go(if you can keep your trans in it) for $20,000 delivered.

Just getting into these things and needed some friendly advice, but I think some people are to high up on their GD horse to give any. Money is no problem. Hell man if I had 20K in a motor the Som Bitch better see 7s. I was trying to get all the info in one place but, I just don't think that's going to happen. Sorry to break it to you buddy, but you're going to need a LOT more than 20 grand to go 7s... Try around 100 grand. Have you ever built a fast car? Cause you seem like the type we get occasionally who rush in, grab a list, spend shitloads of money, and blow their trucks up...

Guess I'll just have to go and look for some old post.

Na MadPSI I was just being a SMART ASS. Ed Hess, I know about the search button thing, it did it to me also. MadPSI that is why I am asking people what works the best and reliable. While the motor is out I want to build it up and for it to take the abuse I'll be giving it. I want to spend my money wisely and not have to spend it over and over again. Just not senseable to do something like that.

I did get the excel spreadsheet and that's a start, so thanks to dave.

Some people here get their panties up their ass-crack and don't like the questions we ask. If you don't like what I ask then move the hell on and post something useful.

If it is 10-11 seconds you desire , then you should be looking more for how to tune your motor to go that fast , because many people here have similar builds but they all run different times due to each persons ability to tune their truck , or the funds to pay someone to . I hope you get to where you are going , but it just takes more than special motors parts to go that fast . Easy example :

Phillip Long -11.10 @ 117.7 all with Stock Original Motor


Ed hess -10.848 @ 124.08 damn near everything possible done

theres a lot i didnt do. Like port matching, I used the wrong cam.

added to much weight.

probably on the verge of finding out what the stock housing can take in torq.

but heck since this is a 1st time effort...

besides dont say it like thats all there is in it and it wont go faster.

its been a month now.

if i had skipped the popular bolt ons that isince sold off and just gone the rt we are on now woudve saived a few bucks and a lot of time.

but its all part of the learning process.

the thing many dont realizeis that tuning is more than just how the motor is running on its ignition parts and the chip.

tuning for traction.

tuning the gearing combination.

getting your brakes tuned to hold against the tc for that launch.

In my case harry had to even teach me the best way to hold the brake.

he could constantly get more brake than i could. Beleive it or not i can hold the brake better or rather get more pressure with my work shoes than wearing sneakers!!!

Once we found this i get the same pressure as harry. Harry once bent his brake pedal he holds it so hard. We now get the same pressure on the brake gauge once we found why i couldnt.

Test everything whenever you make a change so you dont look like a couple shmucks when you get to the track!

Lots of little things make a big difference.

Let me preface this,This is the first time I have been negative on this board
I'm sorry Brian's link was down, I will make sure in the future that his link does not go down when you go looking, as you could not find it at the top of the page.
and on the other thing,
Obviously you have never priced a bowtie block, billit crank, a set of fully ported heads, custom intake, turbo, oh yeah i use a DFI. I was actually being truthful with that price, you could not build a new engine complete with everything for the same money unless you could do it your self. (which by your posts you can't)
One more thing it takes more than a engine to go 7's

Bob, let me appologize for the rude remark that I made about your post. I was Very Angry and being a Smart Ass when I wrote that. I know that it takes alot more money, motor, tuning, etc.... to go 7s. When I am looking for information, I don't want any smart ass coments unless I ask for them. All I want is the info I asked for. I am New to the Typhoon and don't know jack about them. My #5 piston cracked and the motor has to come out. So while I'm going into the motor I am going to do things right. Not going all out race engine, I want it to be street/strip with good reliablity.
