Which Cut-Off Switch?

Re: Which Cut-Off Switch?

If you're gonna run starter current through it get the bigger one for sure.

NHRA says that a relocated bat must have a cutoff sw. The reason, as I understand it, is so they can disconnect the bat in case of an accident. (In general they are referring to bats in the trunk.) Presumably in the stock location they can reach the cable and cut it. In your situation it will prolly be up to tech at the track. Trouble is if they MAKE you put in a sw then it has to accessible from the rear of the truck and cannot be electrically activated, which means running cables to the rear of the truck.

you get what you pay for , look at the amp ratings on those two switchs , for $50 bucks more you get a switch that can handle 3 time the amp draw and fove time the amp surge. when it come to electrical you should spend the extra just to be over protected.

i got this i'll let go for $100.00 shipped , the switch and roughly 16' - 18' of if i remember correctly 2 gauge cable. cable is better than it looks in the picture, it has some undercoating on it but comes right of.

The first one. The second with the removable key will not pass tech at the track.

I bought my switch from Ron Francis wire works, the switch I bought has terminals for the alt field wire too. so you can wire it in to cut off the truck all together when the switch is turned off. Here is a link http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dyndetail~Z5Z5Z50000278a~Z5Z5Z5AAAPU~P32.95~~~~S2H20R0F0Z68162620916e~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50000278a They also carry very nice wire with covering that does not catch on fire as easily get their catalogue and you will see what I am talking about. Remember you need to power your ecm differently too so you do not have to go through the learning mode every time you disconnect your battery they sell kits for this too. Here is a link to their home page http://wire-works.com/

Re: Which Cut-Off Switch?

Thanks for all the help. I like the idea of the removable key just so I can easily shut power off when I leave my truck unattended and make sure it will stay disconnected. I was pulling the ecm-b fuse all the time, but is that a bad idea to remove and replace everytime I leave the truck parked? Or do I have to pull both ecm fuses for the memory to clear?
