:rotf: :rotf: Dick, lol...

yup got me a hole in the piston, new ones are on order. Rods are good, cranks good, blocks fine, heads are good, I can't complain, six new pistons, and drop it back in the truck, for all the passes I've done with it I can't complain to much. But I badly need to increase the intercooler, it's just to small, and meth will be on order very soon. So no (heavy) racing untile at least one of those is done.

I know, I can feel your lub.. :rotf: damn 87 octane, hard lesson learned.
Well I pulled my own motor so that cost me nothing but my time. I'll put it back in. So six pistons, bearings, and some cleanup.

Here is the chunk of metal I was missing. I think it cam out in tiny tiny pieces, since my turbo's exhuast wheel is prestine, not a scratch or a chipped blade.

That is kinda nuts but what's with those cyl heads. Rat motor heads on a V6? Which end did ya slice off? :rotf: Just wait 'till I get my transfer case replaced. I'll be all over that. Just kidding of course. What I really appreciate is the workmanship. Very nice.

Wow Dean, A+ on the killer detail photos!! I have never seen such a high quality photo of a melted piston. I give you credit for posting those too, some guys would tuck their tail and pretend like it never happened.

I think success/failure posts help everyone in the long run.

Don W.: I didnt get your post - are there pictures of his cylinder heads that I can't see?? I can't see any worksmanship - just 2 close up photos of a piston.

Watch the slide show not the vid. My machine won't let me open the file now, watched it fine yesterday. Anyway there is a little slide show that runs under the vid if I remember.

I think Don is referring to http://www.sytyperformance.com/gallery-dean/index.htm

Thanks for the props Tooky, Yah it sucks, but in actuality it's not such a big deal, at least for the repair of it. My first motor catastrophe was cracked block! that was a much bigger deal to solve, and pay for. Hence the current build

Yah I do run it hard when I make a pass, but I make a very determined conscious effort to let the truck cool back down before making another pass. The ONLY time I have ever hot lapped it was with my tuner with me in the truck. He let me know we were still safe to run again, but I'm to much of a scardy cat to hot lap it on my own, like we did that day.
But all in all, even letting it cool down isn't going to make much of a difference if your intake temps are just to hot to begin with. Yeah alky! I really need to get a custom spearco intercooler setup on this truck also. Then I can play hard again and monitor my motor for issues. I'm the kind of guy that makes a few passes and the next day I'll pop the hood and start inspecting the shit out of it. I just love to do that. :D
