EDIT: I just found a few pictures from his 2007 season, but he's running a parachute now. I still don't see a rollcage though, but it appears Firebird is letting him race again with the parachute.

Me and jake used to not get along so well but I think thats been put to rest I have nothing but respect for this guy, the budget he's doing it on and how fast he freaking going.

Err, yeah Jake Montgomery. My bad. Always in a hurry.

I have respect for him as a driver, but he's not the smartest guy. He would've lost his car last year for illegal racing, but it just so happened that he blew the engine up against the guy he was racing. When the cops got there he was sitting on the hood of his car in the middle of the road. Another acquaintance was doing a ride along with the squad that broke up that night's racing so I got to experience one end and hear about the other. :lol:

BTW, you have to have a login to look at the DSM forums.

His compilations for '06 and '07 can both be found on Youtube if you look up Evil Eagle.

I'd imagine. And you can do it with an 80e if you want to keep OD. Rossler has officially got units into the low 7s, high 6s. It won't be no stock 80e from the junkyard, but yes. You can.

A unit like that from Rossler will cost roughly $6700 without converter.

Ask me how I know ;)

Fun this tread is up again :D because we where talkin about this subjekt the other day again.

The clue in this AWD syclone running down to 7,50 is just appearence like a Sy with the single turbo and V6 engine...

with an V8 its not a Sy.. just a S10 with awd..

We´ve been figuring and coffebrain storming a lithle again, so for now we would be glad for some help about the NHRA/IHRA rules in the matter..

7.5 sec. or lower AWD Syclone is in process here in Sweden. Hopefully I can start to build it later on this year. Of course I´m gonna do a project thread on this.

:tdown: I disagree. Just because someone adds an extra turbo or a couple more cylinders doesn't take away from what they're doing or what they may accomplish. Just my opinion....but if you keep it turbo'd and awd....it's still a Syclone.:2cents:

...if I read you correctly (and your certainly entitled to believe the underlined portions above)
the courts beg to differ. Remember, GM got sued when Olds owners started finding out their gas engines were small block Chevies instead of "true" Olds engines.

I see what you're getting at....but I'm not going to take away from any of these guys that could possibly break off into the 7's just because they're not a single turbo and a v6. In my eyes....if they do it in a Syclone....they get all the props in the world from me. Again...just my opinion.

You also have to look at fuels, Shep is running 7's on Nitro, no intercooler, and 3200CC of injector per cyl.

It is completely feasible for a sub 7.5sec truck, it means some good power and a shitload of suspension tuning.

I have seen 800+hp Hondas pick up .5 sec just by suspension changes, I think we are in the same bucket.

In regards to John Shepherd, did you mean he is running Methanol, as opposed to NitroMethane? I've seen the vids, and I'm pretty sure that's not Nitro in there...

As for the fuel issue, I agree with the concept of running Meth for this application. No IC (or radiator) means less weight, and weight will be the absolute make or break in this quest.

shit anythings possible just have to have the will and the time and yes the money to do so :) im gonna try to dip low 8's on radials and i mean TRY with my truck no its not a true syclone but it looks like one ;)

the MT 315's are a bigger tire than people think. When people see 315 they think like a nitto. But a MT 315 DR is a 30" tire.

7.5's with a v6 is not going to happen with a syclone unless you strip everything out and go tube frame. Way to heavy.

As for a Syclone only being a Syclone if its got a V6, is your opinion. Take a corvette and put a 770 cu in stroked mountain motor in it and its still a V8 corvette right :) If you going to say a Syclone is only a Syclone if its got a V6 in it then its got to be the stock 4.3 block build. Ohh yeah and don't swap out the 700R4 either or its just a S-10 w/AWD :tup:

When I hit the Powerball,I'm gonna have Campbell Automotive build me a 632 CI BB Merlin EFI motor with a beachball sized turbo.:tup:
