Who has the lowest # '92 Typhoon on the board?

I'm sure this has been asked before, I just couldn't find it anywhere on here. I asked in the other forum, who has the lowest # Typhoon on the board. I have #14 and am curious if I just let one of the earliest surviving trucks go for $3700. Not that it really matters now, but it would be kind of cool for the new owner to know that his truck was well worth what he paid for it. Anybody have a lower # '92 than #14??????

I thought that maybe 3 or 4 early ones might be in the hands of a few executives. I'm talking about everyday trucks out there that are in the hands of people who actually drive them, not the candy asses that got one because of their postion within the company. (I.E. GM or PAS) You know, the old guy that thinks boost is just a supplemental drink.

According to Sportmachines, #003 is the lowest privately owned one

it doesn't really matter all that much since the ty #s don't represent age of vehicle.

The last digits aren't sequencial? I.E. order of production?

They are sequential for GMCs production of the Typhoon. But they were sent to PAS as an incomplete vehicle. the PAS production number differs from GMs production number. No one really knows all the trucks and thier PAS production numbers so we all just go by the last 4 of the VIN like the Syclone even though that isnt truely when the vehicle was completed..

Re: Who has the lowest # '92 Typhoon on the board?

I own 92 Ty #0004. I bought it a few years ago locally. According to the Sportmachines database, my truck was completed Sept 11. 1991, before #0003, so technically it is the 3rd one made.

edit- It may be for sale pretty soon too.

Re: Who has the lowest # '92 Typhoon on the board?

Was the vin on the dash put there by GM before being shipped to PAS? Or did PAS install the vin plate after they got the truck? All of the other parts on the truck bearing the vin, i.e. doors, frame, etc., would have had to been marked at the same time to bear the same #, right?

Re: Who has the lowest # '92 Typhoon on the board?

but the trucks were incomplete when leaving gm. So you still don't know a build date based on vin for the Tys.

Yeah, I know, no seats, door panels, cladding, etc., all of the stuff that makes them Typhoons. But, what I am curious about now is did they also leave GM without the vin assigned at the time they left? Might be a silly question, but if the answer is no, GM installed them, then the original date that they left the assy. line could be assumed to be the production date, IMO. I know that they weren't finished until PAS got through with them, and that seems to be the accepted date of production. And, if they aren't sequencial, where can I find the build dates of all the other trucks at? I've seen sportsmachine mentioned but haven't a clue otherwise. Thanks. Mike

You cant find it. All the paperwork and files are tucked away in peoples closets where they slowly have been working on the painstaking task of sorting through them one by one by one... Some day we will know. But until then, we will just use the VIN # as a reference to when they were built.
