The joys of Texas.

"Anyone who can legally possess a firearm can carry it inside a motor vehicle, if they are traveling. The firearm can be loaded and must be concealed. If it is in view it is a violation of the law. Law became effective 9/1/05. "

I wish states that have "right to carry laws" would/could publish some meaninful statistics about the effect it has on crime.
Maybe they do and it's not made public knoweldge.:dunno:

There was a local sheriff in a small town near Sacramento that was basically pimping CCW permits to fund his town.
You had to pass the basic criteria, non-felon, non-nut case. Besides that, just live within the county of Sacramento.
Their permit requests sky-rocketed. Then I believe, the state changed the law so he could no longer issue to anyone outside his jurisdiction.

Well I'll tell you one thing for sure, when I was living in Ft. Worth I was with the Tarrant Co. Sherrif's Office and violent crimes against persons (rape, muggings, car jacking, ROAD RAGE etc.) droped about 31% over night when thay passed the CCW law. I mean hell, if the bad guys know that they are likley the only one with a gun then it's piece of cake right? Now if they pull a knife, POS .25 or somthing like that and they get a 9mm or .45 stuck up their ass, that might take all the "easy fun" out of it and let me tell you it does make a difference!

Funny, I live 5 minutes from Railhead right up 156/Blue Mound Rd. No, people dont go there much these days. the cops cracked down big tim especially since a 15 year old girl was smashed between a crashing car and a semi trailer a couple years ago. yes she died a horrible death and cops are bad out there. There are also new businesses there and they are almost completed building. No more fields.
I got a wheelie ticket out there on my 900RR last time I went. lol

And yes I do hold a valid TX CCW permit as well. Im not a family thugster! lol

Well I left in 91' and it was still real hot then. On a good Saturday summer nite I have stopped counting at 200 plus cars & bikes! I knew it was going to happen though, to many real young kids with no brains or common sense.
