bring out yer dead... posts that is.

I gotta admit that I would very much like to see the following to compare with known turbo builds:

1. V6 SyTy iron block (with/without blockfill)

2. EFI or Carburetor (on pump gas, maybe meth/alky)

3. modest camshaft (similar to turbo build)

4. modest strenghten internals (pistons, rods, 4-bolt, similar to turbo build)

5. With a ProCharger (with boost levels starting at 8psi to 30psi)

Its been 2 years since the original post. There are some pretty good examples of builds out there now, to follow. Id still like to see something like dig's truck, where you open the hood and it looks stock. Yet, see if you could get it low 11's or better?

We'll see how that goes... :)

There's a lot of hybriding you could do to a 20g and really make a screamer-that-didn't-look-like-one.

Considering we had Heavy Tys running 11.80s on unleaded gas, I don't think low 11s in a Sy is too far out of line.

Getting the drivetrain to take it, is another thing....

I guess the question becomes, what interests most members (and will provide the most knowledge). Say...

-a very stealthy stock vehicle running mid-11s (using new ideas with 20g, but with stock engine/drivetrain components)
-an inexpensive alternative recipe for aging high mileage V6s (knowing that such items as forged
cranks, bowtie blocks, ATR headers and such are hard to get/discontinued)
with possibilities like extrude-honed exhaust, vortecs/intake, accessory deletes, and nitrous
-or a completely different engine adder (such procharger, supercharger, etc) to compete
with the new mustang gt500/new Z06 vettes/new vipers.

It would seem that for street purposes, an 11 sec AWD should beat new unmodified Mustang/Vette/Vipers due to being RWD.
But it also seems that at the strip, the newer Mustang/Vettes/Vipers with slicks can turn 10s and beat modified SyTys.
To beat up on them requires a bit more thinking (previously requiring $$$$/lots of mods). Dunno if a cheaper 10 sec SyTy
recipe is available (and thats why I mentioned the possibility of a procharge, seeing
a recent hotrod article about 600-1,000 hp engines with such).

Im amazed at the mustang/cobra supercharged vehicles now running around -
(cheaply done with 600+hp), or the rear-twinturbo`d vettes. Course their not AWD
but some do hook at the strip. And thus the question becomes, is 11 seconds
sufficient (probably yes for street, and no for strip).

...but I'm just thinking outloud, (heck I was hoping Marty was going to built his TT-alum engine/Syborg
concept, but what the hey...)

I think it could be done and I think it would be cool as heck. Is there enough interest and potential market for a vendor to do it?

Re: what build do you want to see?

wow.. holy old post!

well let me see. i've built about 5 engines for this truck so far and each one has been sold before it made it into the engine bay. Come close to selling the truck a few times, but the coil overs are off b/c i needed to steal some parts for a customer. So i never got it out of the garage to take some good pics for the sale.

Currently is has the following done.
flexaforms
ranchos
front coil over kit
sumped fuel tank with A1000 fuel pump
caltracs

motor sitting on stand is a stock block, oliver rod, je piston, billet crank evenfire. Havent figured out heads yet.. i have too many to choose from. Most likely some vortecs with big stuff3 for ease of tuning.

but now that the ghettosled is up and running well, its alot more fun to drive 1000+hp then 500, so the project was put on hold till work slows down.

At this point, i wouldnt mind selling the roller and finding a good home for the motor.

thinking of a built thats affordable for "everybody", just to see what things are worth and whats hot and whats not ...

... easy add-on's and bolt on's, suggesting a stock block/intake/rods, just to see what to get out of it ;)

Re: what build do you want to see?

1) Stock upper/lower intakes. Porting and coating allowed
2) Stock exhaust manifolds. Porting and coating allowed.
3) Stock ECM.

All of these have proven to be able to support low 11's. Plus it would be at least another $3-4k to replace them with something else. Build it so that you can switch to E85 when it becomes available on every street corner.

I dont know what the fascination with AC delete is specially since you are in cali. IMO An ac daily driver that can pull out 10.50's spraying meth would be my dream build. Stereo ac and all the things you'd want in an daily.
