Ty's in the 11's?

I have a 92 Ty and it just recenty ran 11.6@118, I've gone to the timeslip page and there doesnt seem to be to many other Ty's in the 11's mostly Sy's. When there is a Ty that goes 11's they all seem to have T-70 or larger turbo's, is this a normal thing or is everyone just going with a large turbo and not fully using it to its potential? I'm running a T-63 with a Sy Ty specific .83 housing. I guess I'm asking why go with such a large turbo if your not really going to use it?

11's in anything is impressive, but your correct you don't need 70 size turbo's to run that.

They KEY to having good ET's is the starting line. You spent 65% of your time on the 1st half of the track. You MUST get out of the hole good, clean and quick.

Try running sometime and letting off the gas at the 1000 ft mark, you will be amazed the ET barely will change.

Now let out of gas at 100 ft mark for just a split second, et will suffer greatly.

I ran a t63e to the mid 11s in my ty a few years ago. Went to a stealth 70 and picked up a few tenths. I now run a GTQ72. Jeff is right, you got to get it out of the hole quick. The shorter wheelbase and the little extra weight on the rear makes the front end loose real quick.

I have a PTE63e turbo (bought of John) and running srp/eagles/50lb inj/412 cam/l35 heads/a2a intercooler/3000 stall

Just curious to what I could run in the 1/4.

Build motor, 0.30 over
412 Cam
stock crank machined and nitrated
vortec heads fairly stock light port job 2.02 1.6's
Edelbrock carburated lower intake converted to FI, deleted middle seperator
custom fuel injector bungs were made and custom fuel rails
90 degree elbow for upper intake 80+mm round throttle body
83# injectors, FAST
T-63 with .83 sy ty specific housing
Built 700 4000 stall 9" converter (all Rossler parts used)
DeQuick dual core A/A with piping entering on the drivers side
Stock: rear end, front end, t-case, prop shaft and driveshaft, stock suspention
stock brakes
Stock rims with four MT drag radials
Tunning done by Xplicit Racing and Design
truck weights 3900 with me driving.

We are working on now trying to get some front end limiters done so it doesnt squat as much and hopefully get some lower 60' times and see if it goes 11.4-11.3.

20-21# the turbo is maxed out at that point. This turbo was suppose to go on Ed's Sy from CT. He had a bow tie motor built that was going to (or might someday) run twin T-63's and I was told they were ment to be used as twins not as a single. Its been working pretty good for me, I'd like to change to a different turbo at somepoint but not much bigger.

You sure it is maxed?

Some would say a stock turbo is maxed at 18, but we have run it up to 27. Ideal no, but you won't know unless you try it. Providing the tune and motor allow for it.

Well it stops making any more power at that point on the dyno. Anything past 21-22 it wont make any more power. I could be that I'm only running stock untouched exhaust manifolds, but neither one will be changed anytime soon, not money I want to be spending right now.

Alky injection will help keep the temps down. Then you can run more boost.

It has really nothing to do with temps. It just doesnt make any more power, pushes hot air. My temps havent been a problem with this setup.
