Just for the hell of it...
Heres a pic of the Automotive Forums GTR on the SPEED World Challenge during the St Pete event. That would be Victor's Ty as well from RB Motoring.
Me, Ian, and Rob got to hang out in the pits all day and help out a little bit.
The man on the bottom is who you want to ask about Skyline vs most anything...

Oooh ! I like the way their paint scheme turned out......looks very JGTC !! :tup:
I heard Sean always likes to be on bottom :rotf:
I guess that car went real well for its first season but Sean told me it kissed the wall at some point...bummer dude .

Yeah, St Pete didnt go so hot either... popped off the IC hose and the starter came loose. Made about 3 laps and the car was brought back on a flatbed after the race. I dont even think they got to run in Ohio, more mechanical.
Oh, and heres the one that meet the wall after it was raped of all good parts to swap onto the spare car

a friend of mine owns a black 91' skyline GTR. He and another friend of mine with a 00' z28 basically stock w/ exception of a catback both raced a worked evo. The skyline pulled on the evo about 2 cars, the camaro pulled on the evo by about 5-6. Keep in mind this was from a roll but the camaro held its own and I honestly believe the camaro would have been at the worst dead even from a dig. Also the evo and skyline were nowhere near stock.

This R32 was owned by one of our member who was the original owner of the Tyzilla and, now got other red/red Ty and also Full-Tuned 320km/h recorded R33. (Left Green/Gray is mine)
Took this pic at our national last year and there was also stick-shift Ty and the Tokyo-Highway race was blast! (Of course I video'd but no place to upload such a big file though...)

Keep in mind there are several combinations available for the Skylines. Was it a R33 ? R34 ? Are you positive it wasn't a GT-S and NOT a GT-R ?
Whats nowhere near stock ? If it didn't have uprated turbos and full exhaust swaps etc.......its most likely just cosmetic engine mods.
From what I've seen with regards to any LS-1 cars on juice and heads.....a stock max boosted GT-R R34 would step out 4-6 car lengths on awd launch and continue stretching to the traps.
These bench races are impossible to gauge with out real specs of the builds.
Still fun to hear about them though.
Maybe Sean can post up some modded results in the 1/4 for the differences in a GT-S to the GT-R to get a better understanding of these curious animals.??

Yes thats true. Unfortunatly its all too common for people to add the GT-R badge to their cars for the cool factor. So it CAN be misrep'd.
Not saying his friend has done this though,just stating.
But.....just like our trucks.....the Skylines do come stateside running like total tune $hit, getting jacked with any tuner wanting the bragging rights to state they've got one in house....never getting the tune right and sending it on its merry poor tuned way.
We all get miffed when a fellow SY/Ty'er badly rep's our rare trucks......I guess I feel it with the GT-R's sometimes. :squint:
I don't own a SKYLINE, don't get me wrong. I have everything minus the sheetmetal skin. Its all getting stuffed into a older S30 Datsun 240-Z thats being widened 10" .
I would like an R34 GT-R though......please Santa, you Reindeer stuffing Elf pounder ! :lol:

So what is the difference between the R33's and the R34's then?
What are these vehicals going for $$ after any conversion to make them street legal? Iv'e seen prices around on a few but there outragous 80K-100K, is that normal?

I wouldnt take it word for word since its wikipedia, but gives ya a good idea of differences.
The cost comes in to import and legalize for the US for smog/emissions.

R32 - $20-30
R33 - $30-50
R34 - $60-100+
Sean Morris needs to chime in here... hes the authority on everything skyline when it comes to US import, tuning, racing, etc. Sean works over at RB Motoring (which they are getting a new site here soon *coughselfendorsementcough*)
