think this is the right place
Picked up a new spare tire for $10 bucks the other day, brand new silver shiny rim and a good tire (mine has 2500 miles on it and it's rusty/greasy :( ).

Question is, what is the maximum difference in spare height to tire height that the transfer case can handle? It's a T155/90-D16 (stock is T145/80 D16), about 2.25" taller than the stock tires. I'm going to be running 275/40 R17's. Just want to be safe... if I can't use it, I'll take the old one, powdercoat the rim and get a new tire

I wouldn't use it if it's more than 1/2" taller or shorter than the tires currently on the truck.

New question... I thought I'd check the fitment on the wheel tonight ... problem is, the 16" spare rim won't fit over my brakes :( ... So, can I get a bigger spare rim? I don't want to do runflats as I'm trying to keep unsprung weight to an absolute minimum.

Hey Jorgensen, If you have the LS1's all around than the 16" should fit. Check this out: http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36243, i am selling a Camaro/Firebird LS1 spare that should be a good match with the LS1's.
The stock 16" spare wheel steps in at about 14" diameter ... won't even fit over the rear calipers. ... that one looks like it is a true 16" diameter
