Re: About to B Crushed Sy 679
Late to the post but heres my thoughts.
Why do guys try and sell these trucks for 10k etc and when they dont get it part it out and be lucky if they even come close to half that?
I don't know what this guy was asking for his truck when he was trying to sell it but its just stupid to part them out.
First how much actual $ can someone make by ripping a truck apart? First you have to think of all your time to tear the thing apart, then clean the parts, then box them up and have them shipped. And thats not including the listing of the parts for sale, haggling the price with people, dealing with emailing or calling people, sitting on the parts till someone buys them for the price you want to get for them.
So if this guy was trying to sell it for 10k, and lets just assume he could make 5k (which I highly doubt it would be that high) then deduct all your time and effort selling everything off 1-2k and there is your new for sale price of the vehicle, 3-4k.
I know people have come up with a list of how much certain pieces go for but I would really like to know the actual cost someone has made by parting out a truck, how much time and effort of theres it took and how many months it took to sell everything off.
Makes me sick to see these things destroyed by people for selfish reasons.

Thats a truck my dad bought, we are going to fix it up and make it a great ty again, we are not going to just part it out and throw it away like so many other people would do.
The only trucks that I can partially see being parted out are ones with salvage titles since that tends to bring the price down.
So for anyone thinking of parting there truck out please think of all the "extras" that are involved with destroying one of these trucks and hopefully you can sell the entire truck and not just throw another one away
Stepping off my soap box now and getting ready with fire suit
