Re: Project "SyTyQuest"

Have you looked at a pan for the 2wd s10. Check to see if that will work. :)

Jason i think you have a good idea. i was told that the 2wd pan has about a 3" shorter sump. i thought i would have to modify the oil pan but it fits, it's tight but it fits. i'm going to need that 3" because i plan to drop the car 1.5" in the future.

good to go on the hood clearance.

oil pan sits a tad bit low....

placed the motor in to see what i needed to do with the pan and mounts

The yellow Conquest was my buddy Dave Buschurs. Its in Aruba now. I did a 4G63 swap on my Conquest with aa lockup converter glide and transbrake. Car has AC, PS too. Now to figure out how to insert or upload a pic of it on here.

Re: Project "SyTyQuest"

looking at this pic, I see how tight it is, especially up by the steering linkage. The 2WD pan has a longer sump that will interfere in this area. It won't work.

Your best option is going to be to shorten the sump on the 4X4 pan. This will decrease it's capacity by about a quart, which is not good, and an oil cooler will be required, but you will probably be OK. You may have to fabricate a 'bat-wing' sump.

If you need pics of a 2WD sump I'll take some tomorrow night for you.

so you are saying that the 2wd sump is <--------> wider than the AWD sump? if that is the case than i wont be able to use the 2wd pan:( pic's and a measurement of the pan would be great, thanks

Yes that is the case. It is a more gradual slope, front to back, to it than 4wd oil pan. No way it would fit. You will need a custom pan made.

Re: Project "SyTyQuest"

why not go with an LSx motor?

See you could even use a SyTy CAC like this one if you must to feel better.

That's very cool! I would love to have one of those.

Re: Project "SyQuest"

That is awesome!!! Are you going to leave it 2wd or are you going to make it AWD later? Either way, that is one badass Conquest. I have always liked them. Nice job!!!
