Unlock GM Theft Lock Stereos?

A friend at work had some repairs made to her 97 Monte Carlo and when they disconnect the battery it reset her theftlock stereo.
Now the dealer wants to charge her to unlock it.

I thought that if you had the codes for the stereo they had to supply you the unlock sequence.

Can anyone PM me the procedure to get the 6 digit unlock codes GM needs?

Her 35 minute drive to a from work is awfully boring in the silence.
And when you have to work with women it is usually better for yourself if they come and go in a happy mood. trust me!

How do I unlock the radio if I do not know the code ?

1. Press and hold presets 2 & 3 for about 10 seconds until the first 3 digits of the display code are displayed

2. Write the numbers down.

3. Press the AM FM button, write down the next 3 numbers

4. Call 1-800-537-5140, when asked, enter 202107, press the * button and enter the 6 digit code from the radio, you will get an unlock code, write it down.

5. Go back to the car, press the HR button and set the first 2 numbers, then press minute button and set the next two last numbers, press AM FM button, SEC should be displayed, turn on radio To remove customers code, repeat step 5. you should see --- on radio face, the code is now out of the radio.

There are a bunch of different ones available from what i see.. It says to try around and try different #'s

I imagine they change them around from time to time.

Yup, if you use 139010 for the dealer code it let us in.

We have the 4 digit unlock code and the procedure to disable this iditoic function once its unlocked.

Thanx for the linx, guess I should get back to work now.....
