UK Summer meet

All,

Not sure if we have many other UK owners or European owners who are up for attending a show in the UK this June?

American Auto Club International (AACI) Summer Nationals June 17th - 19th www.aac-int.com

This show is a big American show in the UK and I'm trying to get a few trucks together. Currently It stands at 2 Ty's, 1 Sy and another potential Sy & Ty. I'm still chipping away at other UK owners to try and get a good turn out. I'm posting this to see if there are any European owners out there that fancy a road trip to the UK to meet up with some fellow owners.

I have been in contact with 2 UK American based car magazines to hopefully have an article published as 2011 is also the 20th anniversary of the Syclone.
Please let me know if you would be interested so I can gauge interest and hopefully secure a stand for all our trucks.

We are planning to camp over to allow us to share a few beers etc so should be a really good weekend.

Regards,

Marcus

Re: UK Summer meet

All,

Just a quick late update from last weekend.

After a late start on Saturday morning and setting off just before noon we arrived at Billing at about 3 and quickly set the tent up.
We then met up with Mark (Quickstop [uk])and Meghan who had caught the train up from London and Martin (Radride93) and Ruth.
Martins truck is super clean and spent some talking going over both trucks over a few beers. Martin told me how he bought the Ty in the states and bought it back to the UK when it was only 4 years old which was an interesting story.
The weather was not looking to good and the general turnout on the Saturday was very low which didn’t make Sunday feel very promising.
Martin and Ruth left for the evening as they were staying in a local hotel and Mark was due to travel back to London on the train. However a trip to Tesco to pick up beers and supplies for the evening also resulted in a value tent, airbed and sleeping bag which was very spontaneous. This meant that they stayed the night, drunk beer and listened to Eagles tribute band until we all pretty much passed out!

After a morning fry up sadly Mark and Meghan (hope she is feeling better!) had to catch a train back to London in the morning so didn’t get the opportunity to have a good look round as it really started to fill up late Sunday morning.
We then went round all the cars that were parked up during which Martin shared some of his huge knowledge of American cars. This was very very interesting for me as I’m very new to the scene and helps to appreciate it even more.
Now all weekend I was hoping that the Syclone that was pictured last year would be in attendance. After we had seen every single car on display in the main area without luck I was about to give up then it appeared, drove past me and parked up.
Straight away I introduced myself to John and Stuart and picked up Stuart’s E-mail address to include them on the circulation. We spent some time chatting and then moved Martin’s Ty and my truck over for a couple of snaps prior to me having to depart a little early as I had left home with both sets of house keys so my Wife wouldn’t be able to get in when she had returned from a hen do in Manchester.

Sy #2643 is super clean and in great condition and has inspired me even more to pull my finger out and get the stock rims sorted along with my damaged cladding. The SS exhaust that has been custom made for this truck is also a piece of art. It looks (and sounds) awesome.

This was a shame as in the short time that we were parked up there was a lot of interest and comments that were overheard by passers-by.
“that’s based on the GN block” Those are twin turbo” “Those are super charged” “those can beat a Ferrari” <------ TRUE! “they are so same I could fit one in the bed of my Dodge!”

So attached are a few photo’s.

It was a real shame that we could not get a few more trucks there but maybe next year? - Mark pull your finger out!
Overall I had a great weekend and really enjoyed putting some faces to names, meeting new owners and catching up with Mark again. We were very lucky with the weather on Sunday and the turnout was good.

I now have a record of 5 Syclones and 9 Typhoons plus I have just been sent a link to another Typhoon for sale in Wales who I will be looking to contact and track down the new buyer.
