Two trans shops in the Midwest...need some advice

Ok guys I'm looking at two shops specifically to build my 4L80e. One is local, The other isn't but their reputation precedes them. I wanted to see if anyone has had personal experience with either shop...good/bad/avoid at all costs. If anyone has other suggestions too, I'm all ears.

I've heard great things about both shops, and I know for a fact RPM has done work with syty specific trans projects. I'm leaning towards RPM, I'm just not crazy about how far they are from me. Thing is I'm hitting Indy this weekend to help a buddy move, and this might be the perfect time to drop it off with them.

RPM has also built some stout TBSS transmissions. I don't think you can go wrong with either. It seems I've heard more good from RPM - nothing bad from either.

As long as you get the parts "if you want beefed up stuff" i can have you drop it off at grossinger chevy in palatine an give it to my dad. Who will then give it to this guy Blasie who is a god damn trans guru, this guy has been playin with gm transmissions for 39 years

if you do go to RPM, talk to them (todd) about micropolishing the hard parts.

Yes he can go to grossinger chevy in palatine, an ask to talk to Jim Ricechex aka My dad tell him you know his son aka me from syty an want to figure your trans out or just call me an i can set this all up alot better 8478476696

He built my brothers 4L80 in his diesel yukon an she hasnt died yet!! My brothers also puttin down about 240-250 hp an somewhere in the ball park of 650 tq

I'm looking for warrantied work just in case something grenades inside the trans. I've been burned in the past with "friend of a friend" work, but I still really appreciate the offer! :tup:

look in any GM High Tech magazine at all the featured cars and other fast 8 and 9 sec cars, RPM built almost all of them, and for good reason. plus they make it so easy to ship your trans being that its not local to you.

You won't go wrong with RPM, of the 4 trans I know of they have done, none of them have had any problems. 3 were 4l80e's.
