Ted for hire....

Just a quick post for those who know the story...

Ted's company called me this morning. I gave them the quick story and when I got home, I emailed them the pics, wrote out a more detailed story of what went down as well as gave them the video I took.

I just got another email back:

Adam,

I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about this incident that occurred. We absolutely do not condone this type of behavior and deal with it very harshly. Any bad decisions made by our employees, and especially in this case, could have put us in a really bad spot with serious repercussions. I have reviewed your email and also video, steps are being taken now, to insure this is resolved immediately. You have provided a good oversight of the happenings, and I appreciate it sincerely. If I need anything further I’ll be in touch.

Regards,

Adam W. Spradley
Regional Manager

Sounds like Ted is going to be losing his job. Im glad they are taking it seriously and action is being taken.

Just so everyone realizes, I reported Ted NOT because he almost hit my truck. I reported him because he was driving drunk. That in itself is not funny. If I didnt report him, the next time he went out and got drunk he could very well end up killing himself or someones family member. I didnt take any pride in having to give the company the story of what happened, or did intentionally want to go out and potentially ruin Ted's life. But like I said....if he doesnt get a reality check, then who knows what the next time will hold for him or anybody else.

Granted, I know we all joked about it afterward, and while I dont want to glorify it, I wanted to let everyone know the outcome of Ted.

Moral of story?

Harmon gives you until the count of 3. After that, dont f*ck with Harmon.

Is this the same Harmon with his eyes closed during the UFC fight on the B-I-G (3.5") screen?

Also...

Warren is a stand up guy to pull Ted to the side, get him calmed down and escort him back to the hotel all the while explaining what a dumbass he was and keeping him clear of trying to step back into a shit storm with the group in the parking lot. Im pretty sure Warren might have tried to take advantage of the situation and tried out some docking too.

Ted did try to apologize. Still doesnt change the fact he made the decision to drive drunk. I stand by my decision to report him.

But thank you Warren for handling that. At least he made 1 friend on his birthday. :rotf:

Re: Ted for hire....

I have one question.

WHO THE **** IS TED?

The really short version.

Guy pulls up in a 4 door 2500HD. Throws it in reverse to back into the spot(s) that my truck was currently occupying. Guy stops within inches of the truck. Pulls forward. Falls out of the truck drunk. Guy starts to get pissed. Shindig bonfire crew is now standing around. Harmon and the guy start a UFC match at the same time I move my truck.

(dont know what happened next, I drove around the hotel to repark my truck)

Warren takes over, does a bit of docking and sends Ted on his way.

I made a call to Ted's company. Rep of Ted's company on the phone this morning were NOT happy.

While Adam walked away, I grabbed the guy's shoe and wallet that had fallen off/out and Harmon let him up. I put the wallet/shoe on the center console of the truck and told the guy I did. Ted starts asking where his shoe is. We tell him it's on the center console. He asks again, we answer again. He asks where his wallet is.....we reply with "The CENTER CONSOLE!" He the proceeds to ask us to show him where the center console is.

Clearly sober and a misunderstanding.

Re: Ted for hire....

Well, Did you guys show him where the center console is?

Sounds like Ted's face was about to get introduced to the center console.:rotf: From what I've read you done the right thing, better it happen like this than someone getting hurt or killed. The loss of a job is nothing, compared to a jail sentence and mental pain this guy would face if he killed or injured someone.:2cents:

I think you did the right thing too. And frankly, I think you all did the right thing by not introducing Ted's face to the center console, even if he did deserve it. I wasn't there and don't know the whole story but seriously, I'm proud to be part of this community. The balls to stand up for what's right, but the brains to restrain yourself from doing what's wrong. I know from experience that the outcome would have been a bit different for Ted if this happened at a Mustang GTG. I mean Lightning guys are super cool, but those Mustang guys... ;)

Re: Ted for hire....

Was he in a works truck? Why did you report him to his company?

Yup. They had crews in the area doing work. I wanna see video. I was posing cause I thought you were gonna take a picture, then I realized you were taping it like the paparazzi. Ted was a good guy who made a bad choice. He's just lucky he didn't kill anybody and the manager didn't call the cops.

Just for the record, I did NOT dick dock him. Rodney did.

Now it all makes sense. Thanks.

Re: Ted for hire....

When I was about 6 I was in a head on crash by a drunk, he had crashed several times, no license. I was lucky to go home to both my Grandma's caring for me while both my mom and dad were in the hosipital with injuries. That set a very clear picture in my mind, and as most of you know I rarely drink probably mostly due to this experience.

A lady at work exactly one year ago lost her daughter to a drunk.

I don't give any sympathy for a drunk, let alone one that gets behind a wheel. You guys did the right thing for sure. Maybe if all drunk drivers got docked several times they might think twice.

Deep, down inside, we all know you wanted him to lose his job so you could offer him a dick docking position.

I want to see the video.

The vid isnt really anything entertaining. Just me telling him that Im going to report him, Warren making light of the situation and Ted standing there mad that Im taping him.

I think it's best that I dont post it due to Im sure the company does not want it circulating around.....which is why I have not mentioned what company it was either.

Re: Ted for hire....

Wow...sounds like it was an interesting scene I missed there, due to work again.

I used to be a military policeman in the Army and I busted my share of drunk drivers. One memorable one was a soldier that I charged with his 4th DUI. He blew a .275 :)eek:) on the machine and his license was also revoked that night. Funny thing was he had just gotten his license back 6 months prior after finishing out his punishment from his 3rd DUI conviction. Some people never learn and until the laws are given very real and very harsh teeth, there are still gonna be people we have to watch out for who have no regard for their lives and safety, let alone anyone else's.

Re: Ted for hire....

My wife's father is an abusive drunk. Got busted for DUI with my wife in the car when she was 8 or so. Has been nailed several times since then. We no longer have him in our lives due to this behaviour.

I do feel that any addiction is a sickness, but its a sickness that needs to be dealt with harshly. Peoples lives are at risk. My wife has some emotional issues stemming from her abusive father. Last we heard, her father has checked himself into some sort of a rehab program. Good, took him 30+ years to realize it.

I rarely drink anymore. Its not something that I want my 1 year old daughter to experience. My job relies on my ability to drive, my family relies on me to survive. I will not take that chance.

The correct choice was made in this situation.
