I am new to the forums, but I have owned a 92 Ty for over 10 years now. It has been in storage at a local shop that is closing down and I need to get my truck out before the end of the month. The motor is currently totally tore down, but all my parts are supposedly there. I need to find a place to have it delivered and rebuilt. Does anyone have any recommendations for a reputable shop somewhat close to home (Rockford, IL)?

woah woah woah.. how ironic i see a red ty crusing by my work "see maybe 1-2 a year here" when i walking out the door and i run to my truck to chase it down and no luck.. was that possibly you in a red ty by anderson toyota today?? cause... we got to meet up!!

Yeah, the truck is over at Rockford Racecraft at the moment. Been there for over ten years.... it only had 20k miles on it when I bought it and I had it tore down right away. Hardly drove it. The motor was in bad shape (hard 20k), so my plan was to get it rebuilt and upgraded and then have an almost mint Ty...
Looking forward to getting it back and running finally, but there is some down payment money that I will probably never see again so I am essentially going to end up paying for the same build twice. I am planning on giving Sport Machines a call later today....

im not talking just about you mmightyb but how do people drop a car off somewhere to be fixed for 10 YEARS ?? many people have said the same story, 3years , 5 years. all the threads i've read and all the horror stories of r/r having peoples trucks for years and years i always wonder what guys excuses were for needing a car for 10 YEARS to do a motor rebuild ?? so much for your minty 20k ty, its probably been out back and rotten to high heaven now.

I have not personally used them but Straightline Performance have worked on several of our trucks. They are based in the Chicagland area.

Thanks. I will check them out too. Ty166....Really don't have an excuse for letting it sit for ten years. Time flies? It started out with trouble getting parts, then other stuff. Eventually it was an out of sight, out of mind sort of thing. Next thing I know, ten years have passed. It has been stored indoors though, so hopefully it is not a mess. Going to check it out soon, but trying to find someone with more Ty knowledge to come with me and help sort through parts...

Good luck man. I hope this doesn't turn into a horror story for you.
As mentioned above though...I'd get to Rockford ASAP with a flatbed and get your truck and any parts that are yours out of there before it gets stripped and parts sold this weekend.

S orry to hear about your ty. i can tell u from my personal experience that you should try and give SPORTMACHINES a call .They redid a set of zr1 rims for my sy the turn around like 2 weeks mostly cuz there was no rush. Tom met me in rochester when i dropped them off and met me in buffalo on one of there trips which wes verry accomadating for me.also told me that if i were not 100% happy they would redo no questions asked. So last saturday i drove to there shop to drop off my sy for some tunning code 59 and a few other things. i was verry impressed by there shop it wes clean neet and verry organized. im sure from my first hand experience that i have seen so far that they can get your ty back in excellent shape. also i have to mention that my sy ive had for over 16 years has never been out of my sight no less at a shop for any period of time.and after seeing there shop the work they have done and there great attitude i would recomend them to any one. if u have any questions pm me id be happy answer any questions.

An option a bit closer to you.... The Auto Shop in Tipton, IA.
Scott has experience with SyTys and has a chassis dyno for tuning purposes.
The Sportmachines guys are great too, but if you wanted to stick closer to home, give Scott a call.
