Hey SyTy community! (If you want, scroll to the end for the short story.
)
I am interested in this truck located in Iowa: 1992 GMC Typhoon 1GDCT18Z2N0811427
This truck was previously for sale through SS Motors in Blaine, MN. This is supported by a Cars and Bids auction which confirms it was listed by SS Motors. The auction closed for $22,000 but then the buyer "backed out." That was December 2021 and I believe SS Motors sold the vehicle again in January 2022. Here we are again only ~12 months later and the vehicle is for sale for $37k.
The Cars and Bids auction lists only two modifications which are 1) Boost gauge on A-pillar 2) custom stereo. The boost gauge is still visible in the Thiel listing but the custom subwoofer seems to have disappeared. And it's too bad that no spare with cover was put back. I believe that is missing.
The only real concerns brought up in the C&B auction were as follows:
My questions for the community are as follows:
1) Is there a knowledgeable person in the DeWitt Iowa area who could check out this truck?
2) Is it reasonable the price has increased 70% in 12 months? I watch prices on these and it seems high so I think not unless work was done.
3) The current listing admittedly shows better than the C&B auction. Maybe it's just much cleaner, the engine bay for example. I really notice the cleanliness there and maybe the brake master cylinder was replaced. But I don't see how they could have done +$15k of work so I think they are banking on market inflation.
4) Does anything concern you from the photos/information in the current listing?
SHORT STORY
I'm basically asking you to roast this truck. What would you say about it, good or bad?
Thank you in advance for any feedback on this Typhoon #1427.

The only real concerns brought up in the C&B auction were as follows:
- Extent of rust on a Midwest truck
- Replacement of cooling system parts in the Carfax history which someone felt pointed to an overheat
- One guy said the decals are placed wrong. He just says "something is wrong" which I think usually the concern is prior repaint or body damage although Carfax says no accidents.
