Re: Help or ideas needed on how to fix my coilover setup.

for those of you running double shims on the same side or need special length ones, let us know the measurements with a pair of calipers and we'll send you a nice single piece chromoly shim right away.

on the prototype truck we used to install the kit, the shims and instructions provided is what worked best and allowed ample clearance for the axle, tie rod, shock mount and spring.. however do whatever works best for your truck.. i just hate to see some of you guys running washers and doubled up shims.... although we cant hold everyones hand during installation we will do whatever we can to accomidate our customers and provide them with a clean solution for any necessary modifications.

nice tip on the MB control arm bolt Hideaki !

Used MB S-class control arm bolts=round head.

Just FYI you might want to consider flipping that bolt around in the first picture so that the nut is on the downside. That way if for some reason the the nut comes off, the bolt has a better chance of staying in.

Yeah it gives you spring clearance, but how does that help anyone when they go to have it aligned?

Unless it looks different in real life there's no way your getting a wrench on that bolt head. I'm fortunate and can align it myself and if it takes me a couple hours because I'm being careful, no biggie. Your average joe blow alignment guy probably will get fed up with trying to get it adjusted and just call it "close enough".

I'm having the same problem with the spring interfering with the bolt. What's the part number for the MB control arm bolt? If I go down to the MB stealership, what part should I ask for? Also, the springs are touching the CV boots on both sides. Not sure if this is normal or not.

Honestly, not really, I got the suspension put together but have yet to have it aligned as the whole truck has went on the back burner. Seems as though with all SyTy parts some fit perfectly and some aren't close.

The shims, keeps the shocks in place. You will need shims on every coilover kit.

fyi, it seems like if you are able to shim the top eyelet all the way forward and the bottom all the way back you will have the best clearance on the axle boot and the alignment bolt. On some of the earlier kits with (2) top and (2) bottom bushings/shims you may not be able to do this unless you machine the spring spacer and the top spring cup to the same OD as the spring.

I've seen some trucks that had plenty of clearance with 4 shims and un-modified cups/spacers, and others it was not even close. So we figured in order to try and provide the most amount of clearance possible, we would just modify the shock assemblies a bit more so you could offset the shock and not have to clearance or bang out the frame tower or install the shock upside down. Now we actually have our own billet spring spacers that were made in house so we dont have to modify them.

We just finished install on two kits here with zero issues. you can see a few pics here (they were taken to help assist a customer with install questions):

One syclone, one typhoon. Pics show both sides and the clearance. As a future tip, our alignment guy said it is easier to align when you initially pull the upper arm all the way out. I guess it is easier to push in for them vs pull out. They have special thin wrenches and said although it was tight they were able to get to all the nuts/bolts without a problem.

if you have any specific questions or need assistance you can always email or call and we will do our best to help out. If you have an old kit and would like your spacers/spring cups machined like the ones in the pics just send them back and we will modify them free of charge,
