PLX WB O2 hookup, I feel retarded

Well Ive read all the how tos and watched the 4 video clips for installing. Ive go to be missing something here. From the 4 wire plug off the plx box one wire goes to the gauge, one isnt hooked up because its mode, the other two are narrowband and wideband signals.

These two wires run down to the ECU and the narrowband gets plugged in where the old narrowband wire was and directly across from that is where the wideband pin goes.

Now here is where I get lost. The ground that goes into BB9, where does that come from? I feel dumb because ive been reading all over the place and i cant find it. Dig's site says the WB O2s ground. Does this mean the sensors ground like split open that loom and grab the black wire out of the large harness or?

I apologize for asking something thats so extensively covered but I just cant find the answer.

Thanks guys

Wait I think I got it....Is it the main power plug ground from the plx box that gets placed on the ecu?

The ground that is in the 4-pin, white connector goes to B9 at the ECM.
The power supply ground (of the 2-wire, 2.1mm power plug) just goes to a GOOD chassis ground.

you sir, are the man. Idk why I couldnt get that but its not in that video series. If you look he plugs it in with only two wires on it then talks about a black wire. I had no Idead what black wire

Thanks for mentioning that you are using the videos. I spoke to one person at Homecoming that said they were helpful. If anyone has any feedback on them as to how they could be better or more informative, please let me know. These were done by a customer and overall did a great job without having something like a spec or set of guidelines to make them from.

We had a lower limit on video size, 100mb so the install had to be split up into 4. We have recently increased the individual upload limit to 200mb.

Also, it might be really helpful to have the videos embedded in the thread on these forums, but from what I understand it may require some coding to implement that functionality.

We are working on an opportunity for people who create video to become sponsored by some of the manufacturers, get parts, $$$, etc. I can send a proposal to a potential sponsor and assist in obtaining the sponsorship opportunity. If anyone might be interested, get in contact with me so we can get something in the works.

We are still in the early stages of this but you can see one of our channels about Home Improvement will soon have some very helpful remodeling videos. (Home will transform from $700k to $1.5M in about 4 months) http://www.tuneyfish.com/channel_detail.php?channelid=75&action=showAllEpisodes

Any comments, suggestions or ideas are great.

The videos were 100% spot on minus that ground wire and the narrowband wire. When the customer plugs in the 4pin connector there are only two wires in it. Then when putting the narrowband wire in he reuses the old purple wire? how? splice the narrowband from the plx into it. Those were the only spots I didnt understand.

Dont get me wrong the videos were awsome and got me pretty far, I just needed some clarification on some things that werent shown.

My ground came outa the weatherpack and i ended up using the capacitors and grounding the WBo2 on my EMC case itself. Works great with no noise.

If you want too just take a coathanger and straighten the end. You can use it to force the old weatherpack connection out of the ECM Harness and just replace it with the new simulated NB wire.

That way if you ever wanna go back to truly 100% stock all the wires are there ready to go.

Guess now I feel retarded.

Installed the PLX with no interface to ECM. Reading was 14.7. All is good so I interfaced it with ECM.

I have the power 12V going to ignition, ground going to chassis ground.

4 wire plug. GND to BB9 and WB to GF14. Male pin to TX. lambda wire not connected to GND.

Cap in between the BB9 & GE14 and BB9 & GF14.

I got readings in lambda and when car is started reading 1.33 lean. I disconnected everything and had just the 3.3V in the 4 wire plug, still the same readings. Then I installed my techedge without interfacing with ECM and all is OK.

Talked to PLX. They are having me send the unit in. Tech support said the GND on 4 wire plug is for lambda. When I connected that GND to the ECM BB9 it shorted the unit to lambda mode.

I'm afraid that when it gets fixed and I do it again, it will short. Am I reading the instructions wrong on here?

IIRC my 3.3v wire isnt conected at all. just WB NB and GND.

As far as i remember everyone i asked had no clue what it was for haha.

According to this post =it seems like this is how the hookup supposed to be(trying to figure the black wire too) but since yours shorted out,I don't know what to wire now. Did you ever get this fixed?
