How should I handle this?

Ok, ever since I got my Ty I have wanted to do the trans am scoupe for the cold air mod. I bought a brand new fender to do it with about 3 years ago and it has just sat there in the garage with the template taped to it and a few starting cut marks in it. So Today I got bored and decided I would finish cutting it out since I really wnat to get it done as I hate staring at this all the time

Yes I know, it looks terrible. I had seen a pic of the trans am scoop somewhere and tried to imitate not really knowing what I was doing. Since I have gotten a little bit older I tend to try and do things right these days. So my problem now is that I have the hole cut out but the scoop does not fit right. There are gaps that need to fileld and I am not sure if I should fill them or trim the scoop down. Also, how should I mount this to keep it in? I was thinking Epoxy? I am NOT a body guy so I don't really know these things.
Here is what I am talking about.





You can see how it is flush on the long parts but front and back has nice gaps. What should I do?

It looks like the fender vent is just sitting on the shoulder edge all the way around the hole. The vent is fiberglass so you can sand the high spots down thinner so it sits in the hole deeper and evenly. Don't cut the fender hole any bigger. Make the vent fit the hole. I had these vents installed on both sides of my truck but did them differntly than you are doing.

First of all, mine sit back more towards the wheel well edge so they look centered in the fender.

Second, I got the entire section around the fender vent cut out of a pair of rusty T/A fenders so I had the entire mounting pocket to work with. I had the shop cut my fenders and then bend and weld the pockets into the fenders so my vents bolt in the same as factory on the T/As. Fits real nice and they are removable for cleaning junk and wax buildup from the openings.

Morgan aka NJTy180 did his differently as well. He cut the hole in his fender and fiberglassed the vent directly onto the fender - sits real nice in there and looks molded to the fender - lines flow with the factory S10 bodyline - looks nice.

Yeah I would like to see them. htlandscape@yahoo.com . Sorry it is not a link, I am not sure how you do that. Once the vent is in place the edge will about 1/2" from the front, do you think this will bad? Damn I hope I didn't screw this up already.

Where you located the hole is just personal preference - I don't think it will affect it's function at all.

I'll email you some pics of my install today.

Thanks for sending those pics Dennis. Helps out a little. Now I don't like how far forward it sits. Oh well, not the end of the world I guess.

Ok I got the vent sitting the hole pretty flush. I don't think I am talented enough to get get it in there PERFECT with out screwing it up. Is my best bet at this point to glass it in? I thought about epoxy. Does it matter either way? Also, which ever way I do go, would it be dumb to get stuff on the outside of the fender or will it matter? I am assuming there will have to be somethign to fill in the slight grooves left behind after seating it in.
