Broke ANOTHER shifter cable..Cant believe it!!

Yeah last night up in Denver I noticed my truck wasnt going to gear correctly. After we droped of our friends, id was stuck in OD. So I just drove it home that wya nad this morning took the cup holder off and found that the cable popped right through the sheathing!! I cant friggin believe this crap!! Too bad it was only warrantied for one year. I have no idea what to even get next. I dont want to spend the money on another aftermarket "bullet proof" cable that will just break again in a year and a half. FWIW, I thought the cable seemed really stout and didnt think Ild ever have problems with it. Maybe my truck is just cursed, I dont know. What should I do? I have a stock cable with bracket laying aorund but I shaved the mount for it off on the shifter so I could install the aftermarket cable.

No its not. I got it from Supersports10. Damn nice piece too. I have never heard anything bad about them and like i said before, thoguht I would never have problems. Ill have to take a pic of it and show what I am talking about.

:lol: I should because you were driving but there is really nothing you or anyone else could have done to cause this. Thanks btw for last night, me and Michaela had and awsome time. I guess my parents are going to have some kind of bday party for AJ so we are planning on inviting you guys down for that. Not sure exactly which day but should know either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Man, this is cable # ??? I have no idea what the problem is but there has to be one somewhere (I know, I know, like what could eat cables right?). But there has to be somthing?

You know, I want so bad to agreee with you but really, what is htere? That was # 6. Since I have owned the truck. First one went after I installed my first motor. Then I started getting them at Advanced Auto Parts and couldnt get more than 6 months out of one. This one has lasted the longest for me.

Ditch the cable and create a cantilever rod system .

What is happening to the cable? Any chance you have a missing ground that is going through the cable and melting it?

Banging gears should have nothing to do with it. As far as a ground goes, no power goes through the cable so therefore should have nothing to do with it. Im taking it out tonight and will post pics. The previous cables the actual cable would snap inside or once it was the eyelet. This time the cable came right through casing.

I got it in June 06 I think. Ill be pulling it out tomorrow to get pics. My daughter proved to be far than a handful this evening so I never got to go down there and tackle it. I dont know what grounds it is Im supposed to be looking for. The cable isnt running current through it. Its not the end of the world either, Ill live :lol: Just frustrating as all hell.

What they are saying is that if the "regular" intended grounds are missing / bad, electricity will follow the path of least resistance and find the "next best" substitute and "crawl" through things that are not supposed to have current in them. I have seen electricity do serious weird shit on the + and - side (don't ask, I still don't have hair in some place I used to!). D/C can be even stranger (even at low voltages like 12). I would think that if it was any where near that bad that you would have other real bad / strange electrical problems though?

Its kind of strange because it almost looks like it got hot but there was NOTHING touching it anywhere. Im thinking that must be the bggest pressure point on it? When I first saw I wanted to say it looked melted but upon closer looking, it looks more like it just spit through the tubing that was very heavy duty. Not sure what would have caused this at all.
