Turn Signal Help!

ok i took off my grill today to see what was up with my left turn signal. both the top marker and the lower lamp work but there dim. also when i signal left it goes fast and when i turn on the parking lights/driving lights the left turn signal stays on in the dash. so i pull off the grill and see that the left marker has the brown wire cut from the original harness and grounded on the front clip area. so i check that ground and sand the paint off but didnt help any. still dim, blinks fast, and leaves the turn signal lit on the dash when the lights on. then i go to check the other one to find that the black wire connected to the harness is no longer attached. (theres two wires connected to the bulb and a black one below is disconnected) i start checking it to see if that black wire is a hot wire (12v) and it doesnt seem to be anyways i strip it down and insert back into the harness to see what it does. the lower lamp gets bright but when i do that the top marker bulb turns off. can you tell me how to wire it back up. to fix this problem.

go to auto zone etc get a whole new socket get the crimp but connectors,but get the heat shrink ones ,it is the ground wire

i checked both sockets and they look good? should i just change them any ways. i can repair the lower lamp black wire but why does the top lamp go out when i reconnect the black wire?

Reconnect that wire. The marker light "grounds" through the turn sig bulb. The result when wired correctly is as follows:

With lights on = side marker and front (bumper) marker both on.
Activate turn sig = front marker goes bright (both elements lit) and side marker goes out, then front goes to single element and side comes back on. Back and forth.

With lights off they both flash simultaneously.

Make sure front (bumper) bulb is good and inserted correctly.

If everything is "factory" the a fast flasher means a burned out bulb.

a while ago i reconnected the black wire with the parking lights on and the upper marker light turned off is that normal. as of right now the upper marker is grounded to the chassis (the original brown wire was cut from the harness and grounded on the chassis). will that affect how the lights work?the lights work fine except that they are dim when lights on, flasher goes fast when used, and signal light stay on when lights on.

i meant the lights work fine without the black wire connected there just dim. when it is connected the top marker doesnt work?

Brown wires are parking lamps.Black wires are ground. However, the front side marker lamp grounds through the turn signal wire.
