using salvage yard parts and LS`1 front calipers, just did brakes on my suburban and it has rear 13 inch disk and twin piston calipers (same part number as 99 camaro fronts ) just have to look into getting the rear rotors redirlled if thats possible

what about a parking brake?

Im 99% sure you would be able to use the brackets and cable kit offere here as it is the same style as the ls1 just a larger "brake"

Re: possible rear 13 inch bolt on kit

I'm looking for something like this for my Sy.

In front I will be using a Stoptech c5 4-pot system with 13.5" 2 piece rotors.
the kit should be here on monday.

I am now searching for a rear brake set-up to better match it.

Stoptech didn't have anything that would work and It seems most people in this neck of the automotive woods go with a ls1 set-up that uses a 11-12" rotor for the rear.

Another option is to use the C6 Z51 rear rotors, which are 13" (330mm) disks and already have the correct bolt pattern. They're also set up for an internal parking brake mechanism, and with an appropriate spacer should be completely compatible with the LS1 camaro rear brake conversion (at least that's what I'm lead to believe).
GM part number for the Z51 rear rotor is 89060329, PartsZoneOnline shows them for $72 ea, and they charge actual shipping (not GMPartsDirects Shipping plus Handling plus a huge markup / profit).

Only downside is the Z51 rotors are crossdrilled, which means they're probably not suitable for extreme track duty.

I'm still on the fence about what to do.

would you still use the LS1 backing plates with the z51 rotors, brackets and calipers?

Do the z51 calipers have a different offset and bolt spacing compaired to ls1 calipers?

What all is required to make it work?
I have read and found no real details on how to make it happen only a post or two about people who did it and then didn't post much information on how to do it :squint: or those wanting to do it.

If it is a matter of making a spacer to correct the caliper offset for using z51 rotors and calipers on a ls1 backing plate/emergency brake that shouldn't be that hard.

I'm honestly not certain what exactly is required. You're right, there isn't an overwhelming amount of information available about this stuff.

The questions that I don't have answers to are:
1.) What are the offsets (of the mounting surface to the back of the disk) of the LS1 f-body, C5 or C6 (regular), and Z51 rotors. I expect that the C5 / C6 and the Z51 have the same offset, which I think is smaller than the f-body offset. Meaning that you need a spacer between the backing plate and the axle tube flange to push the parking brake & caliper mount out.

2.) Are the above rotors parking brake sections the same (diam, width)?

3.) How different are the LS1 f-body and C5 / C6 rear calipers? What is different if anything?

Sadly, I can't help all that much. I've got a set of C5 rear calipers at the house, but haven't bought any of the rest of the pieces to do a LS1 f-body or C5 rear brake swap.
