I finally got ahold of the general manager today at about 4. He ignored my messages till I finally caught him offguard. He said no one would admit they hit it so they arent going to pay for it. Needless to say I went off on him and asked him why he would piss off an employee that makes him 3-4 times the cost of repairs to my truck per day. Then I asked if it was his truck would he expect to have to pay for it and after a long pause he said he would pay for it out of his own pocket. Then I stated that when we wreck one of their vehicles we are expected to pay for it but when they wreck mine they cant pay for it. He said "we just dont feel that its our obligation to cover it". So I said "Well I dont feel obligated to work for a place that will **** their employees!". An hour later my truck is safe and sound in my driveway and they are missing a lot of shop supplies. On top of that I told the story to a bunch of other employees and they are pretty pissed over it too. Im also turning away some people I know that buy cars from there just because I work there and know some salesmen so I got them taken care of. This is going to cost them a hell of a lot more than $500 for a ground effect and the body work that would have been done in THEIR body shop.
I also was planning on having the body shop there paint the entire truck this fall. Looks like I'll do it myself, they wont see another cent from me. The owner of our dealership is also going to get either a letter or a phone call about this. Im sure I'll pay for it myself, I just want him to know how he lost an employee of over 3 years that turns 60-80 hours a week consistently.
Good thing I was already trying out another job. Looks like toyota is keeping me as a tech for a while. Guess its for the best considering m second day i turned more time than anyone in the shop and this is my first full week and I'll pull 50+ hours easy(week ends on wednesday for us).
