Re: Smoked my Motor

couldn't you just buy a low mileage wreckingyard 4.3 from an s10 and be easy on it, low or no boost, just to get you back on the road again?

they sell for about 500 bucks around here.

then you could either start rebuilding yours if it's reuseable or start building a new one slowly as money is available.

just a thought

Re: Smoked my Motor

I talked to the owner and he guarenteed me that they do plenty of performance motors and plenty of turbo motors, and that Ill be more than happy with his product. So I guess Ill be the guinee pig and let you all know how it works out. I would pull an insurance job on my truck before paying 4-5 Gs for a bone stock short block. Anyway, Ill post up pics and let everyone know the outcome as soon as possible. Thanks for the replies...

It aint a "bone stock" rebuild. That's why I used the word stockish.

Re: Smoked my Motor

Good luck. What are the details of that motor you ordered?

Pistons, rods, heads, crank, so on and so forth?

Re: Smoked my Motor

Ill have it by next week, so Ill keep you all posted.

I know i'm bringing up an old thread, but looking at a new engine/rebuid and keep my options open.

How did these guys work out for you? I see they had a 4.3 Turbo on their website, did it come with the right parts, lower CR pistons, good head gaskets, ect?

Any issues?

Re: Smoked my Motor

The motor is in and runs great. They actually sent me the wrong gasket set which pissed me off, and there was a hole in the block where a manual fuel pump would be mounted so I needed a blockoff plate. Other than that Im glad I went the cheap route. If I had to go back and do it again I still would have used them.

Thanks for the info. Leaning towards going this route. Did they give you a build sheet with the engine, IE what pistons, rods and what not when in it?

Re: Smoked my Motor

Mike,
Check out this place if you haven't heard of them:

www.performanceclinic.net

They did all the machining and bottom end assembly on my Ty motor. They used all the parts I took them. 4-bolt main conversion, drilled my vortecs to fit the stock lower manifold etc. I've had no problems with my motor yet, knock on wood. You'll drive right past them on your way out tomorrow.

Re: Smoked my Motor

I cant find the build sheet but Ill keep looking, I have it around here somewhere. I want to say it was 2100 shipped to my door, including gaskets, tax, core charge, shipping, and ARP studs. I didnt send back my core but that would be a couple hundred less if you did.
