New Trans HELP....

I just got my tranny install done. When I go to put it into gear nothing happened... It sounds like it engages in gear as the RPMs go down but it won't move. I checked to make sure everything was connected TV, TC, diff, X-case. Any suggestions?

Asking me? Don't think so, just making sure... Who did the rebuild? Or was it just out and reinstalled?

Re: New Trans HELP....

are you sure you got the TC fully seated into the pump? if not you wont have any fluid pressure and could cause what you are describing... how far was the TC from the flexplate when you bolted it up? Did it need any shims? Is it possible you pulled it out of the pump when bolting it up? was it tight to the flexplate and possibly not all the way seated on the pump?

Thats what it sounds like the TC was not seated and more than likely he has bused some vains in the pump.

pull a cooler line loose at the radiator and see if you get fluid coming out when it's running. might want a helper bc if your pump is good it will make a HUGE mess.

Re: New Trans HELP....

Alright guys just got off work. Thanks for your inputs. It was the 11 qts. of oil, I only put 6 and I added a cooler. Once I topped off, I started the car and found a stinking leak on the tranny pan. Looks like I'm gonna have to pull it off and buy a new gasket, I even added a little RTV to make sure it sealed but when the car runs it leaks a lot. And my gas pedal feels a little out of tune I didn't drive far just from the backyard to the driveway. Do I need to adjust the TV cable?

Hey bro sorry to drop in here a little late. Tried to call you back but the phone tag thing wasnt working. Glad you got it all worked out. The pan you have is a darral DEEP pan. I think its an extra 2 or 3 qrts. the transmission was empty, so 11-12qts sounds about right. Drive it around for a little and check it again, you will probably have to add another 1/2 or so. As far as the linkage, I have No Idea. The leak, i put on the DRY gasket, worked best for me. Hand tighten gently plus about 1/4 turn.
