Scat Cast Cranks

Thanks to 92 Ty 1173 for posting about this in another thread. I called up Scat and they had one on the shelf so I drove 10 minutes and picked it up.
It cost $325 plus tax.

The sales rep claimed it is 20-30% stronger than the stock iron crank:roll: I told him our cranks are cast steel and he replied that this crank is 15-20% stronger than a stock cast steel crank.

I am still going to have this one croyed and nitrided to see if we cant make it even stronger.

It is set up for standard size bearings, 1 piece rear mains, 3.48" stroke, 5.7" rod length, and 2.25" rod pins.

Damn, glad I could help. I was going to get one myself but then picked up a stocker for $75. I wish I lived 10 minutes from them, I would of had one a long time ago. I thought the sales rep told me they were lightened also, could be wrong. Can you post up the part #? I think it's something like 3480-5700-**** right.

Unlike some other companies you can order right from them, no middle-man.

It is set up for standard size bearings, 1 piece rear mains, 3.48" stroke, 5.7" rod length, and 2.1" rod pins.

So this means you have to use SBC Chevy Rods (2.1") rather than V6 rods (2.25" Rods Ends)

Shucks???? I didn't know there was a difference. Ill double check when in get home. Any problem with using the SBC rods?? Are they weaker?

The rods aren't weaker, they should be stronger and you have a lot more options. If they are any clearance issues, a machine shop should be able to fix it.

Do they offer them in the larger size for us? I already have eagle rods, hate to have to buy another new set..

I always thought the reason for the larger size was that it offered more material to overlap between the split rod journals on an even fire crank.

I was going of the catalog that they gave me and their web site doesn't give a size. The catalog has the wrong size listed.

I just busted out the micrometers and sure as shit the rod pins are 2.25" :tup: Glad I don't have to buy new rods

It will be cool to see how it works after have the crank treated I would think it would be a pritty strong crank for the money and a good alternative to some one who want more than stock but less than 3k for a billet one :tup:

They are near St Louis MO and used to advertise stroker cranks for the 4.3L.
The offer cast and forged cranks, but do not list any 4.3 Apps on their site any longer.
Might be worth a call if you are crank shopping.

I didn't know Scat made them either.. Damn. I would have bought a new one! Grrrrr.

do these scat cranks work for the IBS 4.3 also? i imagine so, but does anyone know for sure?
