have any of you ever put a tune on your truck to run c16 or 112 octane? just wondering how drastic your power increases were with more timing and more boost

One word ALOT! Timing does wonders for these trucks. Boost doesn't hurt either as long as your turbo is still efficent at the elevated boost levels.

Alot of people think high octane race gas will pick you up by just putting it in. It won't. Actually it will slow you down unless you are expericencing knock or if you add timing and boost. Glad to see you did not fall for that fallacy.

Can't wait to see some track#'s. Low 11's? Maybe 10's? :p

Should be fun.

Still would love to see your TY at NATS 11. www.sytynats.com

anything for women to do there? i'd have to convince my fiancee to go with me.

dunno if i'm going to do the race gas tune or not yet. i am contemplating it.

i am only going to drive my ty once in a while.... race gas

that once in a while will have to be once ina long while do to the cost. 93 octane

alooot more power race gas

how much power will the block, trans, and transfer case rearend hold???? 93 octane???? maybe??/

maybe a meth kit????? would that help it out?

That is what I use. Alky control kit with methanol in the tank. Better than race gas cause it also cools the inlet air temps. Also alot cheaper.:2cents:

As far as your gf at nats. There is a small amusement park next to the track. Hotel should have pool and I am sure there is a mall around somewhere if shopping is her thing. Or she can make alot of new sy/ty friends. Everyone is easy going. Just keep her away from Jimmy Mann.;)

Re: race gas?

I have a c116 tune and it works very well, take a look at almost any race car etc, anyone making big power is running c116,I think and I know a few guys like myself that think meth is just a band aid,my outlook is make a good reliable 93 tune and make a very strong 116 tune,

I'll counter that with Alky dragsters and funny cars run 50-60 psi of boost(roots blower) with over 12-1 compression with methanol alone. Most of the fast forced induction cars, if allowed in the rules, use methanol now not race gas. Also the worlds fastest awd v6 Sy/Ty has switched to e85 (similar to methanol). With alky injection you only have to have one strong tune, run it all the time.

Now I will grant you that in my case the alky compensates for the inadequate stock intercooler, but Alky injection will do better at cooling than a proper sized air -air. You will have to go to a serious air-water intercooler to beat it! Just ask the buick guys.

Re: race gas?

what was that a gallon?i know it isnt cheap, but dont they say 10%more power

VP Import is for high RPM boosted aplications. If you want more power use VP Q16 instead of C-16. It is oxgenated and you will see power, but you got to richen the motor up!

Re: race gas?

so dont you think you would make more power with c116 on two of same builds, than one with pump with alky?it would be nice to make the exact power of c116 without the cost, but isnt the c116 also cheap insurance for overboost knock etc?

Not sure what it is a gallon.....my buddy is now a dealer for them...i'll have to ask!

I left the vp import paper at his shop, but they do say a 10% increase should be expected....I'll take the paper work home tommorow!

Diffrent engine builders will give you diffrent opinions. I know cambells automotive in canada, a very respected sy/ty engine builder, swears that you will make more HP with pump gas and alky. Because the air inlet temps will be drastically lower on a forced induction engine.

And I don't know about cheap insurance with c16. Isn't it like $15-$16 a gallon? I like the alky injection so that my truck is as fast on the street as it is at the track. Also I only have to perfect one tune.:2cents:

Re: race gas?

more power you say,see i have been told by a few syty tune guys that they also thought the c116 made more power, maybe cambells have dyno numbers?
