Is this really happening? What kind of racing is Justoyz Racing into?

Re: v8 swap anyone?

You can put a lot of money into a 4l60e and its still going to fail pretty quickly at those power numbers. So i would sell the 4l60 and get a 4l80e and the conversion parts to go with it. Not sure if a doner vehicle is the best option tho. Most people dont use many of the truck parts in the conversion. Unless you just got a doner vehicle for the same price as you would ahv e gotten a take out motor for.

CC801,

The 4l80e not fit in the SyTy, according to advanced adapters and work with the transfer case. Not without really modifying the truck to make it fit. There are several companies that build 4l60/65e tranny that does handle the numbers I am looking to have. I have ordered the internal engine components to handle up to 800 crank hp, next step is purchase the turbo berg werner or a precision 70 to 76 mm.

I would stop searching google and such, and search here. There are numerous threads and all the detail in the world to install a 4l80e in a syty. It has been done over and over. There are also several v8 swapped sytys that have the AWD intact, including the use of 4l80e. You can probably do the whole swap for less than what it would cost for one of the very high end 60e's that will still fail. You sacrifice some weight for a not exotic trans.

Well good for advance adapter on not telling you what others on this forumn know. I have a 4l80-e trans in my ty . None of the parts were purchased from advanced adapters because they know fukk all about syclones and typhoons. If your going to 'google" 80-e swaps , I'm pretty sure it's not going to provide you with info that this site does.

RPM sells the parts to put an 80e in a syty. Just think of it this way putting an 80e in a syty isn't cheap. But neither is building a 60/65e to hold the numbers you are talking about. A 60/65e will hold those numbers for a really short time no matter how much money you put into it. An 80e will hold those numbers all day and not really break a sweat, and in pretty much stock form. 60/65e/700r4 will build up too much heat and be short lived. And the second time you build the smaller trans your cost well exceeds the cost of the 80e conversion. But it's your call, you came here looking for advice, we've given it. Remember i dont have a horse in this race and don't stand to make a dime on selling you anything.

Now on another note, what's the name of the shop in Tampa? I've lived here my whole life, know the area well, have owned a couple of typhoons and there are a bunch around here. But none that I've heard of actually doing conversions on them.

Re: v8 swap anyone?

ALCON,

Thanks for the advice, as to the build, no one has posted of doing a LS/turbo swap. Only one person has shared any info on their build. He sent me pics, but he did a N/A swap. I was thinking of doing that as well, but his headers were custom made by him. As to the 4l80e swap, I haven't asked and since I have the 60 I was going to build it.

I did some looking around, but nothing that I have found actually list what is required to switch to the 4l80e. Have any of you done this swap, and can tell me what exactly is needed to make everything work correctly? Also, do I need to build the 4l80e? I see several post about the input shaft or output shaft.... but nothing concrete to guide me for a somewhat simple installation>

You have to pick a solution for controlling the 80e, or go full manual shift.

For the non existent turbo stuff search for build threads by:

These should wet your whistle for a while

Search wins

Re: v8 swap anyone?

Thanks for the links, I went on Rpm, the part sold werent for installation. Perhaps I will have to call...thanks again. Does the 4l80 requires rebuilding?

NO. The 4L80e will handle a stupid amount of power.

The two mechanical parts you need are the adapter plate and the input shaft (and a drive shaft).... you're making this harder than need be.

LMAO,

Update: drive shaft(S), but yes you're making this more difficult.

I don't know what a good estimate would be for a stock 4L80E to handle regularly, 500hp maybe, it's all relative.

I'm pretty sure I'm at that level or above it, and have beat the hell out of the 80-e, done a dozen stall launches in a row, the trans line were pretty damn warm, but the transmission hasn't missed a beat. I'm trying to figure out if toyz knows anything about swaps. I sent him a bunch of pics and info and it seems to have missed it's point.

Good to know, that's where we're about in the Ty as well and it's still going strong.

On the other hand 600+, stock one's don't last too long :)

Wow. I particularly like the tags at the bottom of the page.

Haven't been on here in a couple weeks, guess search has been down?

Just giving you a hard time :)

My signature alone is probably more info than you have found so far.

Re: v8 swap anyone?

I thank everyone for their comments, some information is good and some is not required. when a person ask for my help, if I have done this first hand, I give them step by step instructions. If you can't do that, this is okay as well. But if you really haven't done this before or please don't comment.
Norm, you did send me pics, but your application was one off. That really doesn't help me. I have found some good info and great places to purchase some items. So, I just want to make sure I have everything needed to perform the swap. I prefer to over research something vs to under research, and it end up costing me more money than required. I am in Hawaii, parts and support just isn't here for a reasonable price. So, forgive me if I am not taking one persons word and the gospel, when they either haven't proven that they have done it or have one off parts.

Thanks for all that are following this post.... I will publish the step by step when my swap is completed. After that anyone that wants to do this swap has a swap bible and not a lot of folks saying this and that... on what will work.....

I think this is the right way to do it...

Re: v8 swap anyone?

If your looking to walk into a car parts store and buy parts that fit and work on doing this swap, you cart is going to be very empty when you leave the shop. I bought parts that were "made" for the swap, and didn't. As for manifolds well your pretty much making your own or use truck manifolds and machine them for v-bands for a turbo application. Even the 4l80-e trans lever still needed a small adjustment to make room. Your biggest issues will be a oil pan and mounts. After that it does get easier.

Re: v8 swap anyone?

I'd reccommend a series II 3800 before an LS motor.

heres a vid of some asshole with a stock 3.8 with a cam/head gaskets
