Six-is-Enough
Use to do a little Boost
Well I finally got around to testing the LS1 front brake conversions. Its has only
been 18 months since I first tested Stock brakes with ABS versus ABS Delete. If you are not up on the results here is the thread:
http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=31058
Quick Synopsis: with ABS average 160.3 ft, ABS delete 145.7 ft. (Stock rotors with Hawk sport pads, Manual cylinders in rear)
I used CBR conversion brakets, Junkyard LS1 calipers, Akebono ceramic pads and Power Slot slotted and dimpled rotors. All tests done with a Tazzo performance meter. 50 degree temp. On the same section of deserted dry road used before. The results were good, but I thought they would be better, but I did use a less aggressive pad this time. Once again I used threshold braking. Five stops in succesion.
Average: 137.1 ft Best stop 132.1 ( 3rd stop) Worst stop 142.9 ft (5th stop)
Stops were steady with minimal lock up at the very end. I did notice some sponginess in the pedal on the last 2 stops. Caused by pads, rotors??? I did not get this previously. Well at least that I noticed.
I hope here soon to do the rear LS1 conversion. I will post up the results when I do it. I might even try some in the rain just to get some #'s. But I won't have any for the stockers in the rain
.
Overall I am pleased with an 23 ft average improvement over stock!
BTW I am able to hold 20 psi on launches with this brake setup
