Syclone ECU Communication Problem

Is this your bush?
Re: Syclone ECU Communication Problem

Hmmm....poor ground for ecu? Or possible blown fuse for cigarette lighter....In some vehicle that's the case. ..don't know if it is in our trucks...

Re: Syclone ECU Communication Problem

It is your scanner. try a year up or down. I have to program my scanner to read a 93 Typhoon just to get it to work on my Sy.

Re: Syclone ECU Communication Problem

Thanks for these ideas. I'm passing them on to my guy at Route 66. If the problem is in the ECU, where can I get a new or rebuilt? Had no idea I would get so much support! Thanks so much.

Re: Syclone ECU Communication Problem

Thanks for the responses. Our guy tried two scanners: a GM Tech 2 with an adapter for older cars, and a Verus snap-on. There was no communication at all; it powers up but it will not communicate. Don't know if I need a new ECU (only have 17,000 miles on the truck), but need to communicate to solve our problem of hard or non-existent starting despite strong battery (fuel pump issue?).

Re: Syclone ECU Communication Problem

The most common problem is one of the pins gets pushed out the back of the ALDL connector. You could also run a jumper from the ecm to the ALDL. Pin E12 looks like the one to jump from the ecm to terminal B on the ALDL. Terminal A on the ecm should be tested for a good ground.

Thanks Jim. I'll give it a try. I really appreciate your taking the time to think about this. Anyone else with any ideas?

Jim's suggestion didn't work. Still no communication. We're using a GM Tech 2 with an adapter for older cars, and a Verus snap-on. Don't know if I need a new ECU (only have 17,000 miles on the truck), but need to communicate to solve our problem of truck not starting despite strong battery (fuel pump issue?). Any ideas at all?

Re: Syclone ECU Communication Problem

If you've run the jumper and checked the ground, you've narrowed it down to the ecm.

Replacing the ecm may not solve the no-start condition. I would check for spark, fuel pressure, and injector pulse to narrow it down.
