Stock Turbo class

Question has come up to me from a local guy wanting to compete in stock turbo class this year at nats.

Would calltrac's be allowed?

Here are the rules posted

Stock Turbo
Any Tire Allowed
Truck must weigh at least 3500# with driver (Ty must
weigh 3800# with driver)
Stock ECM (chip ok)
Stock TD06-17 turbo with stock 8cm exhaust housing
Stock unported heads must be used. If L35s are on the
truck, they must be unported, and the owner must
provide documentation from GM that this truck was
delivered with L35 heads.
Engine internals, cam, etc, must all be stock. Block
must be a Sy/Ty P/N.
No headers.
Intercooler system must be stock except Aux CCHE and larger
intercooler pump ok.
Alky injection as anti-detonant permitted.
Stock 4L60 trans, gearing and driveline must be used.
Stall converter is permissable.
AWD
No NOS
Ty gets .4 head start
Stock leaf and torsion bar suspension[/size]

Obviously it still has stock leaf and torsion bars, just an addition?

I'd be curious to see the response to this.

Really a lowering spring isn't stock? Lowering blocks? Flexi-forms?

I would hope that this means - "as long as it retains the torsion bar/leaf spring suspension configuration." Meaning (to me), you can run any of the following additions/subtractions:

- lowering blocks
- removal of overload spring
- Caltracs or any other form of traction/slapper bar
- drop springs
- fiberglass springs
- suspension limiters
- coilover shocks in the rear (E-Rue style)
- lowering in the front via torsion bar adjustment

I just hope that's right......cause that's what I'm building around to compete in the stock class. A drop block is far less impactive on performance than converter/chip.

You must have stock leaf springs with overload and stock rear shocks. Stock means stock.

Just kidding. I have no intention of changing that part of the rules. As long as it is a leaf spring suspension it is fine. IMO at that power level Caltracs won't neccesarily give an advantage. There are just to many different mods to bump someone up a class for having blocks Caltracs etc.
An example is last year we had to bump some trucks out of the stock class for having a AFPR. That one mod will not make a truck competitive at the next bracket and it won't give a definite advantage in stock class. As these trucks get older we have to adjust the rules because most people do not use factory replacement parts because they either aren't available or are stupid expensive.

Look for us to be coming out with the revised rules soon. We will post them so you guys can point out any oversights. Don't expect any major changes though.
