Signal light conflict issue.

Okay, this is actually not syclone specific, as i'm a Sonoma owner, but since the truck is largely the same as the sy/tys, and some of you are also S10/Sonoma guys, ill ask here as well:

Welp, I started getting a problem in my first gen Sonoma. its a 1992 4.3l with a digital dash, but i recently started getting this issue where the headlights/park lights and taillights would interfere with the truck's signals working. they would only blink when the lights or brake light is off, as soon as i touch the brake or turn on the headlights, the signals would stop working just like that, and I cannot figure out why this would be. has anyone had this issue and know if its a common, easy fix thing?

I had the same prob. with my '91 Jimmy. In my case it was the 194 bulb in the grille, next to the headlamp. It seemed to work as a marker, but it wouldn't flash. I took the bulb out , cleaned the terminals, and replaced the bulb since it was a pita to access.

Most likely a ground.

X2

If memory serves (Good luck with that.) turn on turn sigs (one side at a time). Have someone watch. Then step on brake. Find the one that "fails." Bad ground is on the other side. At least it's a place to start. Also physically examine each 2 element bulb, Make sure one element hasn't broken and is touching the other one.

Of course! We are a tight knit family here! We are among the "few" who have the joy (and pain) of owning a SyTy, so we try to look out for one another. Besides syty.net is the best corner of the internet!

Re: Signal light conflict issue.

One other thing you might try. Get a probe with wire and clip, Ground the clip (make sure) then probe the bulb base with your artificial ground to see if you can "cure" the problem that way.

My bet is it's one of the two element bulbs or their ground.

My guess is one of the bulbs is not seated correctly and shorting across the contacts.
Turn on the blinkers and see what lights are too bright/dim or not working all together.
Then try with just the head lights on and see what is wrong.
