Returning to the storm front: a former owner coming back!

Back into the storm!!!
Hello everyone! As the title states, I am a former owner of a '92 Ty - #1820, and looking to get back into the platform. I can't jump into another truck right away, as I need to pay off my current ride - an '07 Impala SS - before trying get to deal with payments on a loan for another vehicle. I will post pics of both my Impala and my former Ty...

A little bit about my last Ty: bought it back in 2002 for $5k with 198k on the clock. I had it for a little over 2 years, and at the time it was my daily driver. It was all stock except for the radio when I bought it, and I really didn't do anything to it as far as power mods or real goodies go. I did wind up doing a 3" cat-back exhaust with a Flowmaster 30 series muffler. I wound up finding an Oldsmobile Bravado grill and a set of headlight covers to transform the front end, a regular set of the Lund hood scoops to make the hood pop a little bit more, a set of euro tails for the back, along with a set of 16×8 '92 Camaro wheels to finish off the look I was going for. I also had a set of headlight covers for the stock GMC grill too, in case I wanted to put it back to stock for a change. Interior wise, I had a triple gauge a-pillar pod, loaded with a new boost/vacuum, intercooler water temp and air/fuel ratio guages. The Ty was the 2nd of 3 S/T-series trucks I owned - a '91 S10 Blazer 2-door 4.3L TBI, the '92 Ty, and last was a '92 S15 Jimmy 4-door 4.3L Vortec.

But due to a slew of bad circumstances (severe depression & a short hospitalization, separation from half of my family, lack of consistent work with good pay, etc...), and the Ty needing a complete overhaul (engine and body, transmission was rebuilt) and that was at least $15k I simply didn't have to put into it as I wish I could have. So I had to let it go, be able to get myself and my life back into a good spot again to be able to move forward.

But more than a decade later, things have turned around during 180° for me for the best. After 15+ years of fighting for it, I have landed my dream career as a heavy equipment operator for one of the largest waste collection, transfer and disposal companies in the US, had relocated twice to make it happen. I have a good ride for a change instead of older $500 throwaway junkers. And now that things are completely different and that another Typhoon won't be an everyday driver and more the Sunday/show/backup vehicle, it is time for me to jump on another truck. One that I can really put the money into, not let this one go, and have it to enjoy and love more than my Impala.

I will be frequenting the boards and picking everyone's brains as time goes on. So thanks for having me, and can't wait to get into a platform I have a bit of experience in and with again!

I don't think I had actually registered on here last time. I was/still am a member of both of the S10 forums, but hadn't signed up here I don't think... and IF I did, I don't remember the credentials I had used way back then. Smoked way too much weed and had way too much happen since those days, and didn't think I would ever find myself coming back to this platform. But since I crave a real show vehicle and a conversational piece that not many still to this day know what they are, the Ty is the perfect truck!

And thank you  for the congrats on the turn around. Was a long venture with many tough battles to endure, but glad they happened and am psyched with the results!

99% of the time somebody will ask you "Where did you get those ground effects?" .05 percent somebody will ask if it's real..04 percent Honduhs will try to race you. .01 ppl will know wrong info and roll their eyes when you tell them the truth. .90 ppl know what's up.

Thanks! Been an operator in the waste industry for 3 years now, and love the work. Not such a noon to the SyTy platform, as my pervious one gave me a bit of insight. Plus, having a few regular S10 Blazers helped too, despite the turbo set up and the all wheel drive and stuff being different on it compared to them. This time though, I plan on being all for and about it. And definitely will NOT be letting the next one go for anything. Made that mistake once, won't happen again.

100% true Jimmy... exactly what happened when I had my first one. its another one of those that many have only heard of, and many have no idea at all that they existed. Only those who really know are the ones who truly appreciate these trucks.
