proposed SyTy event for 2005?

Hey West Coast SyTy gang anybody interested in having a get together in 2005 inconjunction with the first ever Champ Car races to be held in Downtown San Jose, CA. on July 31st? Maybe this can be done along with Tom Dowd's annual summer get together? How about it Tom?

As always I stand ready to assist in seeing it happen.

This sounds like a great idea, Mike. I will do everything I can to try and make this one. The sooner the planning, the better because it'll be a chore trying to get a room... let alone at a decent price. These events attract a lot of people like they do down here in Long Beach. Count me in on this one. :tup:

Thanks to those of you that have submitted your comments about doing an event inconjunction with the new Champ car race scheduled in July for downtown San Jose.

Yes it would be a challenge to pull this together and make sure everyone can get a room. I will see how many more responses come back and see where we can take it?

I'm not sure if we can get any preferred parking for the trucks that do come? From my experience at Long Beach back in it's first year in 1975 (I think it was?) parking was a premium and usually a distance from the track viewing area's. Certainly out of plain sight. So this might not work for us? Tom mentioned that if there was enough interest? He has a neighbor who is high up on the San Jose Police force. He might be able to get us some better parking spots? Time will time. But I think this would be fun and a different venue for the annual summer gathering.

Hi everyone, for those of you that have emailed me either privately or on this forum. I have checked with the San Jose grand Prix ticketing office. I wanted to know what was their requirement for a group ticket purchase? We would need to have 20 tickets ordered in advance to make this happen. This might not be possible since I'm not sure we can pull together 20 members who want to go to this new Indy Car Champ Series street race in San Jose on July 29th thru the 31st.

If you are interested please let me know ASAP. The pit lane grandstand seats are selling out. The price for the top gold package is $150 and includes entry to the race all 3 days plus paddock pass. There are 2 other packages which are cheaper at $125 and $75. But their viewing is less desirable because of the location of the grandstand seats.

I for one want to sit in the seats above the pit row to see the pit action and the cars moving through the start/finish straight section of the racing course.

If you are interested in pre-ordering tickets so we can get the group rate which will give us a discount rate which is slightly lower than the normal price from ticketmaster? I will buy tickets for everyone if you like? But I MUST have full payment before I will order the tickets.

So I hope to hear from those of you who would like to do this event?
