Perfect idle - mission accomplished!

I can now say with much joy that my Syclone idles perfectly. No more surges, jolts, bouncing tach, etc. It just purrs like a damn kitten  Of all things I did, it was the new NGK UR6 plugs and Borg/Warner cap and rotor that seemed to clean up the idle once and for all. I read somewhere in the GMC service manuals that SyTy engines have a normally "rough idle" which is due to lean conditions at idle speeds. Sounds like a crock of shit to me

LOL!

I'll second the NGK results. They didn't cure the problem completely, but it's been the biggest improvement by far of all the other changes I've made.

229 had a crappy idle all of its life, even before it's rebuild. I remember when it would seem like it was going to stall out at a drive through. It would cut out putting it into gear, warm or cold. The hood would shake at idle.

The final fixing combination:
switch from atr pitbull to modified AYBN prom (stock specs except ic pump, egr, boost flag, speed limit)
Replaced ESC unit, vacuum lines, wires, cap, rotar, CR42TS's then ur-6's,

I remember my old chevy used to surge like that at Idle. The cause was a bad EGR valve and a lot of worn out or cracked plastic vacuum lines.
