I'm about to have syclone painted the guy says he can paint the cladding just wondering if that's the way to go or is there a process that a body shop can do to make the cladding look refreshed please give me a little help

Re: Paint cladding

Stock, unpainted cladding on Sy's has the color molded into it. Over time some color may fade from certain pieces. Some of the OCD guys are painting them a semi-flat black to match the stock color/sheen so all the cladding matches. It also can hide repairs. :2cents:

This truck is awesome!!
Re: Paint cladding

Also a GM service bulletin on painting cladding to OEM since GM had a lot of issues with the paint fading.

Re: Paint cladding

Thanks Chris. To add to that I wraped the rest of the truck in matte dark grey.

Re: Paint cladding

I had mine done

Nice truck!

I am having the same dilemma on the cladding. I am still trying to understand if the OEM intent was semi gloss on gloss or if the cladding was supposed to match the paint. I am leaning toward the semi gloss so it stays with the OEM appearance.

Re: Paint cladding

Syclone cladding was a matte finish. The cladding was painted from the factory not molded.

Re: Paint cladding

Another note on matte finish, if you ever intend to wax it you will need to use a special wax. No scratch removers, no polish as you will lose the matte look. I went with swissvax opaque wax. Not cheap. Good luck with your decision.

That is very interesting information about the matte paint. Does your matte paint have clear on it? If not couldn't you have used a matte clear instead? Then I assume you could use whatever products you want?

What seats do you have in there?

Re: Paint cladding

The seats came with the truck when I bought it. I was told they were from an EVO and the syclone logo was stitched into the head rest. I drove this truck over 2000 miles and can say they are comfortable.

The paint was supose to be base clear. Not sure it was in the end.
