The gathering in the south bay is set on on the calendar for April 17th at Vasona Park in Los Gatos. I'm not sure when the gates to the park open? But it is probably around 8 or 9am. I'll check for sure and let everyone here at this forum site. I'd like to ask everyone who is planning on attending to please drop me an email at mtb9192@juno.com. This way I can get a head count or truck count I should say. As for food, I would suggest bringing something with you that you enjoy or there is a near by shopping area where you can pick something up. There are BBQ's available at the park or bring your own.

There is park entrance fee thanks to the troubled economy, no actually it has always been there. So you will need to pay that upon arrival at the gate. At this time I have no idea were we will we set up? It is a large park with many parking lots. Just drive around, shouldn't be too hard to spot a bunch of identical trucks, except for their paint colors.

I will be providing my famous home made green tomatillo salsa and chips but the rest is up to you.

I look forward to seeing you all and help start the 2004 season. WAKE! UP THOSE TRUCKS FROM THEIR LONG WINTERS SLEEP AND MEET IN LOS GATOS

Mike Bridges  :p

info for South bay SyTy event April 17th

info for South bay SyTy event April 17th

Hey everyone planning on making the April 17th gathering in the south bay. Here is the Vasona and Los Gatos Creek County Parks info I cut and pasted from their website. Let me know at mtb9192@juno.com if anyone still can't find their way to the park and is planning on being there?

*************************************************************

Activities - Picnicking - Hours & Fees

Welcome to Vasona Lake County Park and the Los Gatos Creek Parkway. The 150 acre park and connecting parkway are the most popular of Santa Clara County''s regional park and recreation areas.

Vasona Lake County Park Address:
333 Blossom Hill Road
Los Gatos, CA 95032
You can reach the park office at (408) 356-2729

The entrance to Vasona Lake Park is located on Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos. From southbound Highway 17, exit at Lark Avenue and travel east. Turn right on Los Gatos Boulevard and right again onto Blossom Hill Road. Walk-in entrances are located on Garden Hill Drive and University Avenue. Public transit is available to Vasona County Park.

Los Gatos Creek Park is located at the intersection of Dell and Hacienda Avenues in Campbell. From Winchester Boulevard, travel east on Hacienda to the stop sign at Dell. The Los Gatos Creek Trail can be accessed at many locations along its route.

Activities

Vasona Park includes 45 acres of lawn which can be used for informal play such as frisbee tossing, softball or soccer. There are several picnic areas available on a first-come, first-served basis. Eight reservable group areas are placed at scenic locations throughout the park.

Vasona Lake is open for non-power boating year round. Paddle boats and row boats are available for rental from early spring through early fall. The lake also offers fishing for Black Bass, Crappie, Catfish and Blue Gill. Public boat storage is available for a fee and a launch ramp is provided.

The Youth Science Institute, located at the park''s north end, offers programs and outings which interpret science and inspire an appreciation for the natural environment. Behind YSI, visitors can find solitude while hiking the Viola Anderson Native Plant Trail.

Adjacent to Vasona Park is the Town of Los Gatos'' Oak Meadow Park. Here, visitors can ride a carousel, picnic, play informal sports, or enjoy the playground. Miniature train rides on the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad originate in Oak Meadow and run through Vasona Park.

Hikers, runners, bicyclists, and skaters enjoy the Los Gatos Creek multiple use trail which begins at Lexington Reservoir and follows the Los Gatos Creek for nearly 14 miles through the Town of Los Gatos, Vasona Lake County Park, Los Gatos Creek County Park, and the cities of Campbell and San Jose.

Call boxes are located along the trail. Dogs are welcome on a leash and owners are expected to pick up droppings. Free disposable scoopers are available.

At the midpoint of the trail is Los Gatos Creek County Park, an 80-acre urban park encompassing six percolation ponds. The northernmost pond is used for fishing and non-power boating. This pond is stocked with Rainbow Trout from November through April. Black Bass, Catfish, Blue Gill, Crappie and Carp are also caught in the pond. The middle pond is designated for model boaters. The remaining ponds offer visitors the opportunity to view many types of water fowl. Please note that feeding water fowl is restricted; see Waterfowl Management for more information. Casting ponds are also available, open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. to sunset for fly and plug casting. Targets are available for accuracy practice. No hooks or dogs allowed within the casting area. Use caution when walking in the "back cast" area.

Hours and Fees

The park is open year-round from 8:00 a.m. until sunset. Vehicle entrance and lake use fees are collected year round.

Have fun. I can't make it. Got to work that day. How about racing go-karts for the next meeting? Or maybe a meal at Hooter's in Dublin when it opens.

Best regards.

south bay gathering is tomorrow 8am

Everyone as it says above where on for teh gathering rain or shine? Personally I don't think it is going to rain much? mostly just threaten us maybe? So the gates open at 8am and I plan to be there when they open and try to get us a parking area in line of sight of the gate or as close as I can.

I'll be bringing salsa and chips if I pull it together tonight in time for tomorrow?

See youall then....Mike

Everyone, I just read some of your recent messages. I'm sorry some are dropping off due to scheduling conflicts, work whatever? I will hang around until about 10am and if no one shows I'm out of there. As it is I don't know what I'll do for two hours if no one shows before then? As for the suggestion of meeting outside the gate? There really is no where to do that. Blossom Hill Rd is a busy road and plus I think the curbs are painted red all along there before the entrance. Plus Los Gatos Polic are not the most understand bunch in the South Bay police force. Personally the idea of just cruising around as was suggested, doesn't appeal to me. Gas is way too expensinve these days to just drive around with no real purpose in the plan. Plus my new tires cost me way too much to just cruise around. Sorry to be a party poop but that is were I'm coming from. If it looks like no one is coming please try to tell me now before I head over there, if at all possible?

Thanks,

Yeah, my truck just took a crap. I was driving down the freeway and the truck died. I towed it to the shop to see if I could get a quick fix, but no go. They said everything is getting power eccept the distributer. I have power at the coil, but no distributer. I should be up and running monday, but my truck will miss the meating, I won't. I'll be there in my friends syclone at around 2 or 3.

Hi everyone, well I was there on Saturday at 8:30am and stayed until 1:30pm. Only Adam showed with his black Ty. He rightfully left after about 40 minutes. The turnout was less than great, I thought everyone wanted this event? I understand "Stuff Happens" some of you have privately emailed me telling me of your conflicts that day. But what about the rest of you that expressed an interest? I really think we as owners in the NorCal area should be meeting somewhere monthly like SoCal does. Come on peeps lets show them who's better? We should meet once a month somewhere, odesn't have to be a park or turn the day into a long drawn out affair. Can just be at a local diner or burger joint? Justt someplace where we can park an hangout. Let's think about it okay. First of all people have to commot to doing this before it will work. i've there to help whenever and wherever I can, but everyone else has to be a part of it.

End of Sermon
