Got an Idea

Okay, I have this idea about taking a Chevy Colorado and putting a Syclone drivetrain in it. First off how hard do you think this would be? Second, how would you guys rate this set-up? An 05' RC AWD Colorado with the syclone engine. Tell me your thoughts good or bad. This is just an idea I have been going back and forth on...thanks for any opinions.

Here's a tip go to the section labeled syty conversions. If you have the money to do it, which is more then i would ever spend or think about spending for a conversion. More power to ya. Best thing to do is buy a syty and love it for what it is.

That would cost a pretty penny. For that kinda coin why not just get a Sy or Ty and make it that much faster?

I think you'll destroy the value of the donor chasis and end up with a headache getting everyithing working. More power to ya though :)

If you really want a Syclone-ized Colorado, look at the link Sygoat posted. There's a shop that has a turbo setup for the I5 that with the Stage 3 setup puts out 390rwhp. Get yourself a 4wd Coly, find an awd T-case from a Olds Bravada/GMC Envoy or something (I think the frames are based on each other, so you may have an easier time converting the 4wd t-case to an awd) swap out t-cases, lower the truck (if you can find a lowering kit for a 4wd Coly), install turbo setup and in the end have spent double what you would have on a decent Sy/Ty. But you would have something very unique and would be a killer street machine (not as killer as a true Syclone, but thats just my opinion....and probably everyone else here ;) )

Years ago I had a 1980 Toyota pu lifted 4x4 with a 1971 Corvette LT1 350 w/4 speed tranny+NP205+12 bolt posi rear narrowed w/Mark Williams axles. What a nightmare it was most of the time. When it was running right and stuff wasn't breaking it was fun, BUT most of the time it was a pain and it had no electronic BS.
