GAST Spring Meet ('04)

So far, it seems that everyone is okay with no Dyno Day and for having the meet on the 28th with the GAFBA. So, that is the date we're gonna go with.

Now, some particulars..........Scott and I are gonna ride out Saturday, 27th and grab a hotel room for the night. If any of you wanna join us, we'll go out to eat, do a little hell-raising, etc..... Would be a good time to meet/greet for some of us that have never meet or haven't seen each other in a while. I'll get the hotel info as soon as I can for those of you interested. Plus, it would cut down on the rush with not having to commute the whole way Sunday morning (esp for guys like you E-Rue).

Also, there will an entry fee at Reynolds that is payable at the gate. For spectators it'll cost $10, and for those wishing to run it'll cost $25 ($10 spectator fee + $15 tech card fee). Also, since Silver Dollar Raceway is an NHRA sanctioned track, there is the chance of having to pass tech. Now, if they even run tech at all, I'm sure they'll be fairly passive, but let's at least try not to ruffle any feathers (have a helmet, have working lights, etc....). FWIW, I'll have a few helmets if anyone needs to borrow one.

Anywho......just thought I'd throw that out there for any of you interested.

FWIW, if any of you wanna see what some of the GAFBA guys had to say, check here:

Alright guys........we're exactly ONE week away. I NEED a head count. Here's who I have:

- Michael Hood (truck - racing)
- Scott Kilpatrick
- Eric Rue
- Alvin Kinsey (truck)
- Jonathon Pope (truck)
- Joey Allen (truck)
- Matt Peacock (truck)
- Jeremy Walters

If you are not listed and ARE attending, please let me know ASAP. If you are on the list and CANNOT attend, please let me know ASAP. Also, I need a truck head count.....I've listed the ones that I received confirmation on bringing a truck, but we need more.

Also, Scott and I are going to drive into Macon and stay the night (like I mentioned before). I have a wedding to attend Sat, so we'll prolly be getting into Macon around 7:00pm. Not 100% sure as to where we're staying yet, but I'll get that info tomorrow. If any of you want to stay at the same hotel (just one night stay), let me know by the end of the day tomorrow if possible. I'll see if they can knock a few dollars off of the rooms for a "group". We'll probably try to hit a Hooters around 8:00pm also.

BTW, We'll be bringing some tools, and I'll be doing chips at the track........so, if any of you wanna do some tuning there, I'm game.

Sunday will be here before we know it..........I'm looking forward to a good time.

All is a go for me as well. Just some last minute fixes before Saturday. LF half shaft, front shocks, new front trans case vent hose, possible thermostat, a bath and wax. Plan on taking Friday off for fix'n. My S-15 will be in the shop for clutch kit and tranny replacement this week. I'm really stooked about meeting all who attends.

Okay.........that's 8 of us so far that are attending, with 5 trucks.

Now, for lodging on Sat. night.......I have made reservations at the Days Inn in Byron, GA. I talked to my buddy from American Performance (a member of the GAFBA).......he said that a lot of the GAFBA guys will be staying in Byron and that they'll probably get together Sat. night to eat/hang out. Scott and I will probably be checking in around 7pm, I'll unload the truck, and we'll probably go eat.

I got our rooms booked direct from the Days Inn in Byron for $50 a night (1 room - twin beds). If any of you are interested in booking a room here, call 1-478-956-5100 and reserve a room for Sat, 27th - Sun, 28th. To get to the hotel, take exit 149 off of I-75 (near Macon) and take a right (northbound) or left (southbound).

For anyone wanting to get ahold of me this wk-end, my cell number is (912) 536-0294. I'll have this on me the whole time.

E-mail me if ya'll have any questions.

Sorry guys for being a no show, but I got an offer Friday afternoon I couldn't pass up. Free tickets, hotel room and ride to Bristol for BOTH the busch and nextel races. Hated to miss meeting everyone but I just don't get offers like this regularly. Hope the meet went well and everyone had a super time.

Joey.....wish you coulda come, but I'd have taken the trip to Bristol also.

We did have a good time. Alvin, Jonathon, and myself showed up with trucks and Scott and Matt came along also. The track wasn't biting well (for us) and everyone was well off their ET, but we did have fun. The heat was killer......causing Alvin and myself to run like crap.

We're planning another meet in a few weeks down here in Savannah. There's a lot more to do (nightlife wise) in Savannah than middle GA, plus the track runs @ night. I'll make a new post as soon as I know more, but we'll look forward to having more of ya'll down here. Plus, I'll be looking for ET redemption from this weekend.

Alvin.....it wasn't you, it was the track/weather. You were about a full second off of what your truck can run, and I was off about the same (for the way my truck was setup - 14psi, low timing, high MATs, etc....). I hate it that we ran so bad, but everyone (the F-body guys included) was off. I did run once more after you left.....same mph, .3 better ET, crappy 1.87 60'.

BTW, I'll drop you an e-mail here in a little while concerning the next meet in a few weeks.
