Gen V Family Welcomes Three More Engines, Including A V6
All-new name: EcoTec3 — not to be confused with Ecotec, a family of four cylinders. The new engine name is meant to reflect the several mileage-boosting elements of the engines, such as variable valve timing 1, direct injection 2, and cylinder deactivation 3.

Active Fuel Management (AFM) or cylinder deactivation system the V6 cuts just two to run as a V4 in light-load conditions. The new, all aluminum LV3 4.3L V6 sports lofty 11:1 compression ratio, variable-displacement oil pump with dual-pressure control, oil-jet piston cooling, 92mm stroke (3.62 inches) crankshaft with cylinder bores of 3.92 inches for the V6.

Re: EcoTec3 4.3L V6

looks very promising... but then on the other hand maybe they'll throw that into a current body-style vehicle and rebirth the Sy/Ty and make ours worth even less :squint:

Or maybe they will steal monies like you?

Hey I got stuff lol no stuff.

Jimmy we've been over this too many times already, -___- you must've missed the thread where everyone got taken care of. (hence why im just housed and not perm-banned) I also put up a "speak up if I missed you" post too (just in case to cross my t's and dot my i's) that was on the front page long enough for most to see it and its been quiet for a long time. And I still have been making successful transactions since that time by some satisfied "risk takers". There are plenty of other people on the board who offer graphic services now anyway, so other than the very occasional order I'm barely even cutting anymore, no worries.

Very nice. Any mpg estimates yet, or still too early?

If it's new for 2013+ at least we know it'l be way more than 14/18 probably a little lower or the same as the 3.6 in the new Equinox LT and thats 18/23

Re: EcoTec3 4.3L V6

I'm betting there going to compete against the twin turbo ecoboost, so maybe there will be a factory production turbo LV3 in the future.

Syclone Rob

Its all ABOOT the SYTY eh
Re: EcoTec3 4.3L V6

Gm now needs the make a New GMC Syclone and Typhoon to go with the 'New' 4.3l hahahahaha

gkrcr882

SyTyless......for now!
Re: EcoTec3 4.3L V6

Looks promising, GM really needed a competitive V6 for it's trucks and now it has one. As far as a decedent to the Syclone and Typhoon, I don't think there ever will be one. The market just isn't there since buyers are shying away from trucks and truck-based SUVs to buy crossovers. The 3.6 LFX is GMs hotrod V6 as of now. GMC buyers are now more focused on luxury than performance, although a higher performance version of the Terrain may be interesting.

Re: EcoTec3 4.3L V6

The Nox and terrain are the proper sized vehicles comparable to the S-series. GM attemped a "sport truck" with the AWD Equinox sport in 2008 but apparently it flopped (personally I like them though Ive driven a couple) Nothing comparable to sy/ty though. A successor would be nice, but the Sy/Ty didnt do well in times when gas was cheap and musclecars were desirable by more people. A new Sy/Ty would flop in these economic times. But at the same time, Jepp does fine with their SRT8's, Ford is selling plenty of Raptors and Expensive Harley Pickups, the SRT10 did ok...why not GM?

Any HP Torque numbers out on this motor yet?
